Title: false positives
Post by: ankskjaer on September 02, 2004, 10:05:39 AM
Hello everyone.

I had some problems when my database was last updated, avast told me that some files was infected with win32:trojano 279. The virus was found in several places. Later that evening the database was updated again, and then there was no problems, but just to be on the safe side, was there a problem with false positives on the evening of the 28 of august, and are they fixed now...
I´m asking just to be on the safe side, I have used avast for a long time, and it is very good...I have never had problems with it before :D...

Take care

Annette

Yes, the Trojano-279 signature was not selected too well and exhibited a number of false positives. Of course, there's a small chance that your files really do have this infection but given the number of FP's for this signature, it's almost sure that your files are infact OK (especially if avast now doesn't warn you any more).

Sorry for this inconveniece,
Vlk
