I am having trouble re-registering Avast free antivirus version 5.1.889 It is telling me that I have just a few days left and when I click the "re-register now" button a box comes up and says "retrieving information, please wait..." but then after a few seconds the box closes and the expiration date does NOT change!
I have no trouble updated the virus definitions and the program version but I can't re-register. I'm using a Windows Vista laptop with service pack 2.
Computer: Windows Vista laptop
Avast free antivirus
Program version: 5.1.889
Virus definitions version: 110218-1

I'm sorry I must not be explaining my problem correctly, I am not needing to register, I am already registered, what I need is to do is RE-register.
All the links you have posted say nothing about RE-registering. I have recently re-registered another computer using Avast 5, but I am having trouble re-registering this computer.

...what I need is to do is RE-register.
Re-registering is the same procedure as registering for the free version.
If you have problems with the on-line registration, try the off-line registration.
All provided in reply# 3. ;)

Registering and Re-registering seems to me like it should be two different things, like I said in reply # 4 I have recently re-registered another computer and I did not have to register twice, all I did was just clicked the re-register now button, I didn't have to fill out any forms or anything. But oh well if that is what I have to do.
Thanks for the help.

No, at the end of your free subscription, you're just like a regular unregistered user again. Just register and everything should be fine.
