Title: avast and implan
Post by: tara_athan on September 08, 2004, 07:25:02 AM
My Avast4 home edition was working just fine until I installed IMPLAN, a specialized economics program most people would never hear of, but I need to use.  I then get the following messages

Unknown error
storage cannot be created for the "splash" task

Unknown error
Configuration is not loaded properly.  Error: dbsCreateObject

Unknown error
Program cannot save parameters to the storage! (error:dbsCreate Object)

one right after the other.
Uninstalling, with help of avclear4, and reinstalling did not help.
I've gotten a few other errors along the way, but none that I could reproduce (sorry).

If anyone has any ideas it would be great- otherwise I am going to have to find a AV program that is compatible with Implan, since there are no alternatives to it.

Hello!

Dowload my avast! External Control program from my webpage www.security-ops.tk ,run it and select Change Database Storage Method (XML/ODBC) function. When you are in it flip the setting from ODBC to XML. This should do the trick :)

Thanks-the external control program fixed it up, plus there's some other nifty stuff in there too.
