Title: Very slow to open IE in version 6
Post by: alistair94 on February 24, 2011, 02:55:22 PM: I have just updated through the 5.xxx radio button to version 6,running W7 Home edition 64bit and using IE8 it now takes at least 30 seconds to open IE where it used to be virtually instant! What could be the issue?

Post by: YoKenny on February 24, 2011, 02:58:44 PM: I do not use IE8 on Windows 7 but IE9 RC 32bit and it is fast but not as fast as IE9 64bit.

I don't use IE8 though.

Post by: alistair94 on February 24, 2011, 04:33:35 PM: Uninstalled Avast 6, IE8 then works quickly and normally, fresh install of Avast 6 and it's back to 30 secopnds to open. Something not right - where can I download the previous version?

Post by: Dch48 on February 24, 2011, 04:46:20 PM: It did that the first time but not since for me. I also have disabled WebRep, maybe that's where the problem lies.

Post by: alistair94 on March 03, 2011, 12:08:01 PM: Solved, by going to file system shield, expert settings, and unchecking scan libraries. IE8 now loads in an instant, why is this and does it leave a huge vulnerability?

Post by: alistair94 on March 03, 2011, 03:53:11 PM: It's http://news.google.co.uk/ however the same issue was apparent going to any pinned sites from the taskbar, all now fine.
