Title: Update servers
Post by: DavidCo on March 02, 2011, 05:50:31 PM
I had an update fail pop-up message
I had defs at 110302-0 when this  happened and I then tried to update manually but failed
A second attempt went ok and am now at 110302-1
It seemed to be a server failure, the log shows several tries
 ???

Personally I wouldn't worry about it there are over three hundred update servers, so that the load can be spread of one is bust it would move to another.

The main thing is that it eventually completed.

If this were to be a regular occurrence, every time on auto or manual update then I would become concerned and investigate.

I am not that concerned :)
I am puzzled though
The server returned the 404 saying it could not find the file requested
How did my client request a, to it, unknown file in the first place
After all, the latest could have been 11030202 or 3

Connection hiccups aren't unheard of and almost impossible to find out the real cause (without having some sort of tracking software in place and running).

Which is why I don't even bother investigating hiccups, first time events, etc. until they become a regular occurrence, life's too short for that. Perhaps I'm lazy ;D
