Hi there since about Monday this week, l have not been getting definition updates either auto or when l try manually.
1. l have tried straight connection with out my hardware router connected and still nothing.
2. l have no software firewall connected.
3. l have scanned for anti spy-ware programs such as Adware,Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and SUPERAntiSpyware Free Edition these program found and removed spy-ware still nothing after restart of computer each time.
4. l have uninstalled and reinstalled Avast 3 times twice removing the reg keys & other files left behind after using uninstall for a clean start, still nothing.
lam running windows 7 ultimate with SP1 all ready.
have faster cable broadband connection too.
P.S Please see screen shot after l tried to so a manual definitions update
l hope some one can give me help and advice, have not found anything that has been already said l have not tried so any help would be great thanks

Hi Asyn no that version still does not help me get updates, not sure whats going on l have contacted support they asked me to send them a files so they can look at it waiting on there feedback now, l don't want to be forced to change to another anti - virus suit but if l don't get feedback soon l may have to, l don like to have not updates its like opening the doors of the house!

Try ticking - auto detect (use internet explorer setting's) in proxy setting's and leave my computer is permanetly connected to the internet unchecked and reboot.

Hi yes l have just waiting on a report from support of the file l sent them, that they wanted from avast. hofuly here something soon l don't want to have to go for another anti virus :(

How do you know the malware has been successfully and completely removed? Honestly, once compromised, it's restore known clean image or reinstall.

Hi there l guess l dont know for sure only trusting the anti spyware programs that they have done there job, just waiting on avast team support now to tell me what they learnt from the avast file they wanted me to give them and from there l hopfuly will know what l needed to do to get avast definitions to once again update other wise l will needed to go another anti virus program or better still a Linux product

What is your firewall since you are using Avast Free? Make sure your firewall is not blocking anything that Avast needs (going in/out for connections). You can use the Windows 7 FW if you do not have a third-party FW.
What other security software do you currently have or did you have in the past on this machine including:
- Antivirus (AV)
- Firewall (FW)
- Trial versions of AV, FW and other security programs
- Other security software (you mentioned Ad-ware, MBAM, SAS...any others?)
Is Avast being recognize by your Security Center on your machine?
Have you tried a Manual update?
Please update and post your MBAM log to your next post. Thank you.

1. have Pro Version of Avast.
2. Don`t have software firewall at all just a router, but have already tried with out router to see if it was playing up.
3. See Screen Shot of the security software l have used in past.
4. Yes it is been recognized by security.
5. Yes tired manual updates many many times.
6. What is MBAM log? how do l get it from? how do l update it?

Make sure you get rid of Ad-Aware, Advanced System Care, IOBit
Add Emsisoft to the list.

You cannot simply run all that stuff together on one computer at the same time - beyond the huge slowdown, you'll get tons of conflicts.

All I have is listed in my signature. Plus MBAM+SAS (free versions on-demand only).

1. Ad-Aware has not kept up with the times and is not worth the hard disk space it consumes.
2. Advanced System Care is from IOBit!
3. Read what doktornotor says! Too many applications can slow down your system especially inferior ones. ;)

Totally agree here that you need to delet all those program's metioned - ad aware, spybot, advanced system care, iobit 360 security way to many security programs and all the one's you have are also no good, avast and MBAM Pro would be the best combo but if you dont wish to pay for the $25 lifetime license the free is still a better choice.
Im quite amazed that your system is working at all with that stuff on there :o

I have the same problem and I'm using only Avast! and nothing else. During uptade I got this error:

I agree with everyone here. You have way too many security software on your machine, as well as too many other programs that are doing the same thing, which will not only slow your system down but also cause conflicts.
I have also worked with enough users on this forum to trouble shoot with them the problems that ASC, IObit and SB with TT has caused. As mentioned earlier, Ad-aware is now obsolete and has been replaced with MBAM (Malwarebytes http://www.malwarebytes.org/ (http://www.malwarebytes.org/)).
It's fine to layer your security software as long as you don't cause conflicts and over-kill. You are doing both. Please take a look at all our Signatures that are trying to help you and you will see that we do not have the number of security software that you do and we have no conflicts yet we have excellent protection on our machines and we work with helping keeping people malware-free every day.
Please listen to our suggestions and uninstall via the vendor's uninstaller's tools the following making sure you reboot in between each uninstall:
- Ad-aware
- ASC
- IObit 360
- SB with TT
- Emisoft
- Most of your cleaners and optimizers are redundant and most likely conflicting with each other. (see CCleaner below)
Add:
1. Malwarebytes (Pro if you want maximum protection - resident; Free if you want on-demand)
2. You need a firewall (FW). You can use the Windows 7 Firewall.
3. CCleaner (as long as you uninstall all your other cleaners and optimizers). There is a Slim version available as well without toolbars at http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/builds (http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/builds). Most of us use it for a cleaner and it also is a registry cleaner as well.
After doing your uninstalls, try an Avast Repair:
- Go to Control Panel > Add/Remove programs > Avast Antivirus.
- Scroll down and choose Repair function in the pop-up window.
- Reboot.
If the Repair fails to fix your problems, then an Avast uninstall and clean install is most likely needed.
Let us know if this fixes your problems. Thank you.

Wow Thank You Thank You all who helped to provided support in helping me ind a solution to the avast not getting update definitions to download, l want you all to know l uninstalled all the ugly software like ad-ware ect and rebooted then as avast team support suggested to me to download this refresh install once l done this and restarted lam now finally getting all updates, thanking you all for your kind wonderful help.

I downloaded the updates from http://www.avast.com/download-update and still it says that the updates are not for ver6.0.1035 and 1027...?
