Title: spigot - searchsetting.exe

how do i delete this? i found the log in my file system shield and it can't delete it.
what does it do?

Hello,
because it is detected as [PUP], isn't it? And it is better to move to chest (than delete) in case of false positive detection.

siopawman, did you change avast scanning settings? PUPs aren't included by default.

this is true, however, just realizing this now, i checked the expert settings for file system shield and PUP as "move to chest" action. but the log indicated it as "delete". but it can't, says "Error: The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process(32)"

is my pc being sabotaged? can i delete that file?

There are a number of files/processes that can not be deleted when active.

Often if you try to delete something and Windows says you can't because it is in use the file will get removed on a reboot.
