Title: ashMaiSv.exe blocked
Post by: Henri on September 20, 2004, 03:23:48 PM
Hello,
I use avast Home 4 with Spampal, Eudora 6.0 on Win XP

If the pop server of my provider doent reply, Eudora, or Spampal close the connection.
Then ashmaisv.exe doesnt stop and use 80-90% of processeur (the fan alert me !)
Stop avast, or mail service doesnt stop ashmaisv :-((.
I must reboot the computer

Sorry for my bad english ;-((

L'application, C:\PROGRA~1\Avast4\ashmaisv.exe, a généré une erreur d'application L'erreur s'est produite le 09/20/2004 à 14:57:58.236 L'exception générée était 80000003 à l'adresse 77F65A58 (ntdll!DbgBreakPoint)

Hello Henri,

you say that OR Spampal OR Eudora stop the connection when the pop server is not available. This, together with the fault that is generated:

"L'application, C:\PROGRA~1\Avast4\ashmaisv.exe, a généré une erreur d'application L'erreur s'est produite le 09/20/2004 à 14:57:58.236 L'exception générée était 80000003 à l'adresse 77F65A58 (ntdll!DbgBreakPoint)"

makes me think of a concfict between Spampal and Eudora or a 'hanging' connection of some kind in the OS. Have you tried it without Avast or without Eudora or Spampal (and make combinations of Avast with Spampal, without Eudora etc.)? And second, have you recently installed any SP or other Microsoft-(security)update?

Won't help if you select a lower timeout period of avast?
Internet Mail provider settings > Advanced
and, if you want, choose what should happen after that? (disconnect or continue)
