Alright so ever since I updated my version of Avast the other day to version 6.0.1000, Ive only gotten about a third of my normal internet speed and this is utterly driving me nuts.
What the hell happen'd Ide like to know? It was fine till I updated to the new version.
Until the problem is properly resolved can somebody supply me with a link to download the last version for a temp fix?

This is no problem, as there are no other complaints like yours. If it was a general fault, the forum would be flooded with posts.
I suggest you do a clean install to solve that problem:
- Download http://files.avast.com/files/beta/6.0.1044/setup_av_free.exe (http://files.avast.com/files/beta/6.0.1044/setup_av_free.exe)
- Uninstall Avast completely.
- Reboot.
- Install downloaded version.
- Reboot.
Should be working fine.

It's not a good idea to downgrade... Anyway, I suggest an installation from the scratch:
1. Uninstall avast from Control Panel first.
2. Boot.
3. Use Avast Uninstall for complete uninstallation.
4. Boot.
5. Stay off-line (not connected to Internet)
6. Install again the old version: http://filehippo.com/download_avast_antivirus/
7. Boot.
8. Register avast (insert the registration key).
9. Uncheck the programs updates (set to manual).
10. Only then connect to Internet (go on-line).
11. Check and post the results.
Which is your firewall and other security programs that could interfere?

Avast is the only thing I have, I'll try your advice when I get home, I'm at work right now.

Okay, we hope to hear how it worked out...
Anyway, follow Techs instructions but use my download-link. (Tech gave the link to V 6.0.1000, my link points to 6.0.1044 which is a beta but very stable and has some bugfixes incorporated, so I'ld recommend my link)

Sorry. Zyndstoff is correct.

Alright downloading now at a painfully slow 66 kb a sec, I'll let ya know how it goes once I'm done, maybe half hour-hour from now.
-
Well still going at 66 kb a sec, I thank you for your help but I fear this may be a ISP related problem that just occurred on the same day/time.

Indeed, sounds like a good idea to contact your ISP. Report back later. ;)
