Hi I have the Avast 4 Home/Pro version and have a trojan virus detected on the computer that avast can't seem to take off. I've tried to delete, move to the chest and repair to no avail. Help, it's driving me nuts. I've also tried going and dragging it out to the recycle bin but it won't let me do it. Here's the directory it's in. C:\_Restore\temp\BDL10025.0
I'll be eternally grateful to anyone that can help me get rid of this. IT seems to be multiplying each time I try to get rid of it I know how that 25 with a 1, 2, 3 and 4.

The reason you can't do anything with it, is because the file is protected within the System Restore directory.
You will need to shut down the System Restore utility, rerun the scan, or manually follow the path to the file and delete it.
Remember to turn the System Restore utility backon after deleting the infected file.
Without knowing which version of Windows you have, I could not include instructions on the System Restore, but if you go to the Help file of Windows for your version (up in the toolbar), you will find it very easy to do.

I do not usually recommend instructions without knowing the exact Windows configuration.
Those that are not literate with computer instructions might follow steps NOT for their version and compeletly mess up the system.
The HELP file contains all she needs to know, but your link is good info if she has either ME or XP. Thanks.

Sorry about that, my brain was faster than my eyes! LOL. I Have ME on this computer. I"M Going to try what the last poster just suggested and hopefully in the next few minutes I'll be back with no virus's.

I don't normally either, but the process of extracting information was slow. Plus the file location, C:\_Restore made me thing it was ME not XP (something Eddy - I think - said before about the location of _restore being a small clue).

System Restore could be found here:
Start Menu > Control Panel > System > System Restore tab
There you can 'Disable' and click apply.
Then click again to 'Enable' it back.
Doing this, you will delete the contents and restart the System Restore protection.
Can you do that?

Okay, are you guys ready for this???!! IT WAS ALREADY DISABLED!! And the darn thing will not click back and stay no matter how many times I try. BTW, the virus did not come off.
Any other ideas?

Reboot your computer and try again.
You may have to "manually" navigate to the system restore directory and delete it there.
We can get you to do this easily.
