Title: BS question
Post by: Zyndstoff (aka Steven Gail) on April 07, 2011, 07:10:45 PM
Behaviour shield expert settings sports a choice of default actions, one of which is "Block".
The BS pop-up instead offers "Deny and move to chest".

Does BS move the suspicious program to the chest or does it merely block the execution and leaves the program where it is? Is "Block" from the default list the same as "Deny and move to chest"? If so, the wording should be aligned.

Nope: does it move the prog to the chest or not?

can you give the example you tested with the BS?

No, it was not on my machine. Anyway, my question is a general one. Does BS move something to the chest or does it just block?

should just block, the BS is a behavior analyzer and blocker.

Corresponds with my understanding. However, the pop-up gives the option "Deny and move to chest" -> that would be a bug then, right?

Because if it doesn't send anything to the chest, then it is a bug if it pretends to do so. The program causing BS to kick in due to it's behaviour is not sent to chest. Or is it?

Did you try it..???
Else I would do so. ;)

gonna be honest with you guys, I don't have the BS installed and I'm not ready to install it again, as it makes my system boot and run like crap, so there's not much I can check. I can just tell from what I remember from it.. I don't remember the Chest option (together with deny). But I believe you Zyndstoff; simply, true that it doesn't make much sense to send a program to Chest.

Name a program that kicks BS that I can download (preferably one that comes without installation), and I will check.

Well, BS pop-up has settings "Deny and terminate program" as well as "Deny and send to chest"... so it looks like that if you choose to do so, the causing program will truely be chested away...  :o

There is no real problem left, Asyn.  8)

The only point I don't like is the difference in terminology between GUI settings page and pop-up display. Should be either "block" or "deny" on both IMHO or otherwise it may confuse lesser intelligent people (like e.g. me  ;D ).
I'ld prefer "block".
