Methinks the answer is no... There is a thread giving the reason somewhere but alas I forget where it is

avast uses heuristics to detect viruses, malware and spyware. A cloud...I don't know...sounds cumbersome(sp).  ???

Well, cloud is the new word for cluster or better for heap of servers...

We have heap of servers that are delivering the updates, heap of servers gaining the samples, heap of servers analyzing them and heap of servers making the virus database update.
So it is cloud of clouds, who's da king?

Here's some info from Vlk... (Hope this helps)

...there's a bunch of "cloud" features already. Detections are heavily based on feedback gathered from automatic submissions (especially from the Behavior Shield). CommunityIQ data is also used for prioritization. And of course, WebRep is completely cloud based (in fact, the file cloud will share the backend infrastructure with WebRep).

ePlay, do you really want your File System Shield to be making synchronous connections to our backend servers, before allowing you to open programs, libraries and other files? This will typically have real negative impact on your system's performance.

There are generally better ways to accomplish s similar thing.
