Title: Auto update notification not working
Post by: TomN on April 24, 2011, 02:27:26 PM
Avast Free version 6.0.1091

Up until now when I booted up the computer for the day I would get the auto update notification box that would pop up and alert me as to updates. Last night when I did a boot for the first time that day I got nothing and when I did a manual update it stated that I'm already up to date. This morning when I did a boot the same thing, no notification but up to date when trying to manually update.

Settings are set to automatically update every 240 minutes and the box for "show notification box after automatic update" is checked. So I'm not sure why it is not working. As annoying as that voice alert is, at least it told me that things were being updated.

Any clues??

P.S I did a program update last night to version 6.0.1091, but I doubt that had anything to do with it.

yes...you will only see the pop-up if there was any updates to download

and today there are none......yet   ;)    http://www.avast.com/en-no/virus-update-history

new signatures are usually released twice a day.........sometimes more.....and sometimes none

We'll it didn't popup yesterday either. I normally see the popup everytime I boot up first time. Today it didn't and low and behold it just did 2 minutes before I typed this. So I guess all is well.

When you updated to Avast 6.0.1091 last night, it was likely after the 110423-1 VPS was released, so it would have been updated at the same time as the Avast program version.

Today,  110424-0 was released late as you noted.  This all seems normal.
