Title: Avast WebRep for RockMelt Browser
Post by: meepo88 on April 26, 2011, 07:31:42 AM
Hi,

Just want to know if there is a way to use this webrep plugin on rockmelt browser.. since it uses the same engine as Chrome, and most of the other plugins detect it as a beta version of chrome - the same plugin works for chrome and RockMelt..

Thanks

Just goto C:\Program Files\AVAST Software\Avast\WebRep\Chrome\ and drag the crx into your Chrome based browser. You should see a window asking you to install it!

Also, remember to uninstall and install it again when a new version of avast is released.

Hi,

Thanks for the response. Can you please explain where to install it? I'm using a windows 7 x64 OS, could you give me the path and directions to install it please? :)

Thanks again!

Yup. That's all you have to do.

means that, the next time you update your avast(not database) but program update, then uninstall WebRep from rockmelt. Again, drag drop the file again into the rockmelt so that you will have the latest version of WebRep.

what do I mean? that such tools like WOT, WebRep and the likes allow the tool providers to track your entire browsing on the Internet, that's what I mean.

:o  :o I'm guessing its the same for other extensions - not so similar ones like popup blockers , ad blockers ? They also can track us ? So is it dangerous to do things like online banking while using webrep and other extensions?
