Title: ais 6.1125 wireless usb keyboard
Post by: jack_90125 on May 10, 2011, 11:54:13 PM
today is either not my day or avast's day
I set for a boot time scan so rebooted and let it go. I have a usb wireless keyboard. avast reported it found a pup in a program I know about. it gave me a list of 1-8 to take what ever action I needed to take. I selected 7 to ignore and nothing showed on screen. tried again nothing hit escape to abprt nothing checked keyboard was working seen the usb plug light as it received key press but no response from avast.
yes prb did not load a driver or some such. but if I go into bios the keyboard is recognized so it has to have some option to get it at that level.
so if it found virus or trojans I would be able to do nothing with it.cept search the house for a wired keyboard and try again. not a good solution.
even a linux boot cd has no problem with this setup. but avast does.
win 7 ultimate x64

If the driver cannot load and the BIOS cannot recognize the keyboard... well, avast at boot time runs to early to load drivers from Windows...

Well with a later modern OS and system/motherboards incorporating wireless, you should be able to check the BIOS settings and ensure that, wireless/USB devices are enabled on boot, it should work on at the very least basic keyboard settings.

I know this can be a problem in XP with usb keyboards outside of windows, but you aren't using XP.

Try updating the BIOS.

Try updating the BIOS.
now why would I do that when the bios recognizes the key board at that time before anything loads??
so that tells me the keyboard is functioning outside of windows right?
it is an avast problem.
the log shows wait wait wait nothing so there is something going on in avast not reading the input. or cannot work with wireless keyboard.(this one anyway hp wireless usb )
