Title: Avast v6.0.1125 warning about WUDFRd.sys?
Post by: Morro41 on May 14, 2011, 07:42:09 PM
As the subject title shows. Just now after having restarted my computer Avast v6.0.1125 showed a message that it thinks that WUDFRd.sys shows malware behavior? With the version before v6.0.1125 Avast did not gave that warning, nor did it do so yesterday with this version. Okay i realize that does not mean that it can not be malware, but i believe that this is a false positive.

The reason why i believe that is that after i got that warning i ignored the warning(But did not check the box next to "remember" ) and scanned it manually with avast and it showed the message "clean". Then i packed it with 7z and then scanned the archive, again avast showed it was clean. Then i scanned it with a fully updated MBAM Free, and MBAM let me know the file was clean. To go further i then uploaded it to Virustotal and every scanning engine showed it was clean...including Avast. (Although they still use version 5.)

As such i am reasonably sure that this is a FP. Can i set avast to ignore this file next time i get this warning or should i do something else?
