I got this message

avast!: The AAVM subsystem detected a RPC error.
The operation could not be completed.

Does someone know what to do? and why it happned.  


The icon on the task bar always has a  red / circle.

It never starts regardless of my modem ( offline / on line)

I can run the program manually  I've had this version since Feb 03 and have had no problems until now,  I'm running WXP. :(

Ted, what's the status of the "avast! antivirus" service? (Control Panel --> Admin Tools --> Services)

Is it started? If not, can you start it? Is it set to 'Automatic' start?
