Title: WARNING - WinMail.exe
Post by: Gypsyrose on May 19, 2011, 04:23:50 AM
When I try to open up my email program I get an Avast Warning popping up saying that WinMail.exe is an unidentified program wanting to access my computer and gives me an option to Cancel or Allow-If I choose Cancel then I cannot open my email program - If I choose Allow then I am able to open my email program. This happens every time since I updated my system yesterday with the latest Avast updates!
How do I get rid of this annoying message?
I am using Vista.
I am not a technical person so if anyone has any clue what I should do would it be possible to describe so that your grandmother could understand it please.
Thanks in advance,I am new to this.

Just do nothing and wait for the next virus-database update. If it is a false positive, it will be corrected quickly.
You may also put winmail.exe on the exclusion lists of the scanners (fileshield, behavior shield), but I would rather recommend to live temporarily with the "allow" clicking - it won't take long until the database is corrected.

But to be sure that your winmail.exe is not corrupted by a virus, upload "winmail.exe" on virustotal and have it analyzed.
