Title: Rough Estimate on Avast! Free for Mac?

Because of the recent MAC Defender, I have told my stepmom to go ahead and install Sophos free antivirus for Mac, until the free Avast! version comes out. While it seems to be the best free Mac antivirus at the moment, I would rather have her use Avast!, so was wondering how soon the Avast! free for Mac will be released. Even a Q3 2011 or Q2 2012 estimate would be nice. Thank you!

avast was never free for Mac. It was always a paid antivirus.

Yes but they said they will release Avast! free for Mac once they get the GUI done.

I do not believe they have committed to a release time yet. Keep an eye on the forum here as there is usually a public beta several weeks before the final release.
