Title: AIS firewall: wifi adapter undetected
Post by: Hermite15 on May 23, 2011, 02:49:05 PM
just realized after switching from ethernet to wifi, on a same network, that my wifi adapter wasn't detected in the firewall profile list. Nothing to do. Doesn't change much... as long as I'm in the same network and the firewall keeps "firewalling" all connections, but it use to be detected on previous installs. For now, whatever I do,disable, re-enable wifi etc... just the cabled connection appears. Any clue?

This is by design, as long as the MAC address of the router is the same (on Wifi and wired), the location/connection is treated as the same - you are simply at the same place.

I don't mind and the behavior doesn't surprise me (Comodo firewall doesn't even show adapter names, just networks), but Avast use to show all adapters, no big deal ;)

no idea if that's AIS firewall related as I'd have to uninstall it to make sure (and I don't want to as re-adding it is hell): okay when I disable/re-enable my wifi adapter, the system refuses to connect through it unless I reboot Windows. That's it, again no idea if AIS fw is behind the issue.
