What file is reported as being infected?
What is its location?
Have you tried a boottime scan?
What OS?

Hi Eddy.
I am using windows ME. The infected files are c:\_RESTORE\TEMP\A0114025.CPY  and c:\_RESTORE\TEMP\A0157139.CPY

Sorry for my ignorance but what's a boottime scan and how will it help?

Never used ME before but that folder looks like the system restore folder.

If it is then disable system restore, this will delete all the files in that folder.

Boot time scan is a virus scan that is executed outside of windows during boot up. I think the advantage is that when in windows Avast wont be able to access certain files, files that are protected by windows so being outside of windows avast be be able to access these files.

If it is then disable system restore, this will delete all the files in that folder.

Start > Control Panel > System > System restore > Disable
Click Apply
Enable it again
Click Ok

Remember, boot time scanning is a feature for Windows 2k/XP.
It's not for Windows 'ME' or 9x due to a Windows limitation, not avast.
