Title: Can't install PC-VAB Software
Post by: Leo van Bree on October 20, 2004, 07:43:46 AM
I installed Avast! Home under Windows XP Home (with SP2 update) 2 days ago and installed several programs since. Then I wanted to install PC-VAB (a S/W to administer clubmembers). This program was running properly on the same computer in the past. The S/W cannot be installed since I use Avast!, just nothing happens when you click on Setup.exe. On my other PC with the same Windows XP, but without Avast the PC-VAB S/W can be installed. Can I disconnect Avast for the time of installing the new S/W? What could be the reason?

Thanks,  Leo

Is this a 16bit application?

Open config.nt and put a REM in front of the line "device=C:\... path ...\aswmonds.sys"

See if that solves the problem and let us know.

If this is working it will however disable scanning of dos(based) applications. This is likely solved in the next version of Avast (4.5)

Yes, I believe it is a 16 bit application. I will do what you suggest and let you know. Thanks! Leo
