Title: Virus Hoaxes & Realities
Post by: bob3160 on October 21, 2004, 04:04:35 PM
Computers are not only now an integral part of our daily lives, they've also become the primary means by which urban legends and other pieces of misinformation are now spread -- everything from "stupid computer user" stories to virus warning hoaxes (and the occasional real warning).
Take a look at This Web Site (http://www.snopes.com/computer/virus/) for information about some of the common critters we run across quite frequently.

You might also want to check out this web site Virus Myths (http://www.vmyths.com/).

My firefox pop-up blocking stopped two pop-ups, so it looks like this site is now using them.

Here's a few more sites that I visit when someone sends me junk mail. I search for the truth and then inform them. Hopefully, someday those who email me will stop sending such junk around.

http://www.truthorfiction.com/ (http://www.truthorfiction.com/)

http://www.hoaxinfo.com/ (http://www.hoaxinfo.com/)

AND ... no pop-ups on those sites!    :)
