Title: Warning your System is Unsecured
Post by: jadinolf on June 22, 2011, 08:24:32 PM
Wonder if anyone can refresh my memory. A mouse over on the orange ball gives this warning  but the Summary shows secured.

This is AIS and only shows on one of the 3 computers I have it on.

It now has the beta 6.0.1184 but gave the same warning on the previous version.

A reboot used to solve that problem but that is not solving the problem now.

Any ideas? Thanks.

Well, I broke down and did a complete uninstall and all is back to normal.

I dreaded this although I sort of looked forward to it to cleanup "avast5" and "Alwil" from my hard drive. Remember them? ;D

Thanks for reading this.

Now to setup options.

Did you use the uninstall-tool from avast?

Yes, SKY, I did and I have tried repair several times also.

I'm not going to sweat it because I know the program is working but this minor irritation gets to me.

Once again, after reinstalling avast! AIS, it reported good but this morning -- same-O  same-O.

Thanks for the post.

Hi jadinolf, please look in the settings: is the self-defense of avast "ON"?

Is there another security programm on your machine, that has an active "guard", too?
If so, please DEactivate the other guard and try again!

Self defense module is ticked and I don't know what you mean by guard but my security programs are shown in my signature.

All three of my desktops are pretty much the same as far as programs are concerned.

Thanks again.

I wonder if spyware blaster's immunization features may be screwing around with avast at all ? just a thought.
Are you also running both SAS Pro and MBAM Pro both in real time on your system ?

"Forget" about Avast for a moment :).

1_ Reboot;
2_ Open Windows Security Center;
3_ In Windows Security Center, Deactivate the Windows monitoring of Avast (or any antivirus that Windows is monitoring) (so Windows WILL certainly tell you that the system is UNsecured);
4_ Reboot;
5_ Open Windows Security Center;
6_ In Windows Security Center, REactivate the Windows monitoring of Avast;
7_ Reboot;
8_ Check for updates (both for Windows and for Avast);
9_ Reboot.

10_ Come back with (positive/negative) feedback/results.

@jadinolf Write from my handy. With "guard" I mean the real time protection of other security programs. Sorry for this bad explanation. :-((( Regards ~SKY~

I have a problem with System Mecanhic 10.0 since I have downloaded Avast. When I now try to start System Mecanhic 10.0 the "no floating point" error pops up. Anyone know how to fix this. I have tried to uninstall SM 10.0 and reinstall but still get same results. Any info would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Jackrabbit

If you search the board you'll find recent "no floating point" error messages and solutions ;)

Yes but I run those programs on all three computers and did not experience the UNSECURED thing on the others.

Everything up to date.

I did it, Tech but I'm probably not smart enough to figure it out. Didn't really see any solutions.

I'm not getting ANY error messages from Windows either.

Checked Event Viewer also and it is very clean.

Maybe we should let this subject rest. I'm just wasting your time here.

Thanks all

@jadinolf, Tech was not "talking" to you. He was referring to some new user (jackrabbit) that posted an off-topic in this one.

@Tech, so you actually indeed were talking to the OP?
@jadinolf, my apologies then.
