Title: Outlook express error 00x800ccc0f
Post by: Nonajane on June 23, 2011, 11:08:28 AM
Hello. I set up avast free on my parents computer. They use xp home. Initially it worked well. Now they cannot send or receive emails unless avast is disabled. Is there a solution, please? Thanks.

I never had an issue with avast and OE when I was using OE.

1. What is your firewall ?
Does it allow avastSvc.exe internet access ?
- If it does delete the entry for it and try to collect your email, this should force the firewall to ask permission again.

2. - avast! 5.x: SSL Problems The Mail Shield may not scan some e-mails - see http://support.avast.com/index.php?_m=knowledgebase&_a=viewarticle&kbarticleid=458 (http://support.avast.com/index.php?_m=knowledgebase&_a=viewarticle&kbarticleid=458). Whilst this mentions avast5 it is also applicable for avast6.

Sorry to take so long to thank you for your help. I had a go at the computer today, worked through everything. As far as I could see everything, firewall settings etc are ok. They use the windows firewall. Avast will allow emails in but will not send. After some hours of pulling my hair out I lost my temper and just unchecked the box to scan outgoing mail. At least now they can receive as well as send emails! Thanks fo your help.
