Would not know what that would be but as seen to what damage it could do to your computer, I would say a dangerous file infector like "virut", as what goes under the anti-malware radar I would say certain bots and root-kit installs. But never underestimate the malcreants they will develop new malcreations,

The one that gives a popup saying-- "Unintelligent keyboard usage has been detected, replace the user as soon as possible"
This has been a joke, now returning you to normal operation.
It's hard to say which one is the worst. I guess it would be the brand new one that you get before anything can detect it.

Imo, it's impossible to name one threat as the most dangerous.
It depend on so many factors...

Generally it is the person behind the keyboard, all viruses/malware are bad for your system and sometimes finances.

Speaking of which, apparently I heard from someone there is a virus called "cupcake" that makes your computer electrocute you, or something...to be honest, I don't believe that rumour myself....but I heard from my friend is true. ???

spam...
steal your passwords...
trick you to buy something...
fake AV that you need to pay to remove the fake infections..
Ransom...you must pay to remove the ecryption of your disk...
anything you can think of....

I know, but my friend says it's true.... sigh. People these days.
Also, yes, malware is today ONLY for money and to make you worry....especially the fake, rogue software that makes you buy their scam, really bad product/s....the rise of these "rogues" have drastically increased this year. Even Macs are not safe, with the fake MacGuard!!!

You can't really call a virus the most dangerous. But to answer your question the best that I can, sality seems like a pretty popular (I am not saying it is the most dangerous) virus right now. It is a patching virus and infects as many executables as possible, causing them not to work properly or at all. In my opinion the worst kinds of viruses are the types of spyware and rootkits that steal your personal information or banking information. Also, I saw a very nasty Trojan agent/downloader that gave my friend about 120 infections. Let's just say that he was in between antiviruses :). Also you can't really have a 'best antivirus'. There are too many different kinds of infections and also programs update and protect differently. But, I have had very good luck with avast! and not so much with Norton or AVG.

yes the W32:Ex-Wife[trj] is very nasty, it arrives as a sweet thing but after some time it completely changes and take over your life, only format/reinstall will work

One time in World of Warcraft, I needed to save up a lot of in game money to buy the skill to ride flying mounts. To keep myself from being tempted to spend my gold on other things, I created a new female character, named it ExWife, and sent all my money to her on a regular basis.

Yes, the rootkits are really dangerous...what's funny that sometimes you get them without even noticing or realising that it is there....until AVAST! tells you about a hidden rootkit file object and you start to panic~
Talking about Mac viruses, apparently there's more and more of them as well. Apple makes people believe that "they're safe because there is way more Windows viruses that Mac, and even if so, only a few." People really do believe this stuff.
NO OPERATING SYSTEM IS SAFE FROM MALWARE.

Yes, AIDS is very bad even.....
I meant generally MALWARE and viruses that do horrible things....not only one, but a few.
What about the ILOVEYOU virus? That one seems pretty scary, too.

Also, the fake antiviruses that tell you that they will delete the viruses they "find" but actually install more. These are pretty nasty :(

Win32:H1N1 is a high one its can do what its say on his name so you can get many many viruses on your... so you will have to go to hospital or you will die. ::)

What about TDL variants, that make your computer super hard to recover from? You never know, it might happen to me or you one day....
