Oh cool.....

But you know, spammers are make $billions every year because people are so stupid to believe that they won something they didn't participate. It doesn't even fix inside the common sense box that you won something that you didn't participate but still many people will believe it.

Oddly, while I get those emails from time to time, I got a surprise a few days ago when one "advised" me I was supposedly a jackpot winner in one I actually do, once in a blue moon, buy tickets for, Canada's 6/49.  Still a scam, obviously, but maybe they're actually paying a little attention to things like geographic location, for a change.

Even most (relatively) legit telemarketers can't be bothered with bothersome details like demographics ... it's amazing the number of calls I get from home-repair operations who are pretty obviously unhappy to learn that I'm a tenant in a fairly large apartment complex.  ;D

Don't they have a "do not call list" in Canada ???
It works wonders here. I hardly ever get those annoying calls. :)

Hi Bob,

Yes we do, but I've never bothered with it.  Anyone I've ever done any business with, any charity, and there's one more category I forget, are exempted from the do-not-call restrictions.  We just watch the caller ID on any long-distance calls, and ignore anything from toll-free numbers (used by the vast majority of telemarketers) or where the ID is "unavailable".  And of course if the number shows as all zeros, that's a stupid dead-giveaway.

What is 419: the Nigerian Scam?
419: the Nigerian Scam is an internationally acclaimed movie - an educational docu-drama that reveals how the Internet fraud works and what the common mistakes are. Where did the inspiration for making the movie come from?

Every year, more than 50,000 people worldwide fall victim to the Nigerian Scam. Usually contacted by e-mail about a business proposal or winning a lottery, the victims lose their life savings after they are persuaded by stories with very tempting outcomes.

According to some reports, the scam is the third most lucrative industry in Nigeria, generating over 5 billion dollars in the last 20 years. Authorities have named the scam after the number of the article in the Nigerian constitution that deals with the matter - 419.

Interesting, sent from the UK, some idiot must have sent you mine ;D

More interesting the address heading:
FROM THE EMAIL LOTTERY PROMOTION AWARD COMMITEE
NATIONAL LOTTERY OF BURKINA FASO
AFFILIATE OF NATIONAL LOTTERY UNITED KINGDOM
AVENUE CHRLES DE GUILE

I doubt even the French spell Charles like this "AVENUE CHRLES DE GUILE," AVENUE CHARLES DE GAULLE.
The prize is in € euros and the email contact is in Israel.
What I would call a real International company ;D

Filled with the usual spelling and grammatical errors, they should employ a good proof reader to be taken seriously.

Someone has gone and messed it up for the rest of us and bloody reported it, http://antifraudintl.org/showthread.php?p=68098 (http://antifraudintl.org/showthread.php?p=68098), rats.

Very possibly as you would have a hard time finding the AVENUE CHRLES DE GUILE in either the UK, France or Israel.

I suppose you could ask them to transfer it directly into your bank, they might need your user name and password though and possibly your inside leg measurement ;D

Good place to check if you're really about to become a millionaire or just someone about to be scammed.

Even most (relatively) legit telemarketers can't be bothered with bothersome details like demographics ... it's amazing the number of calls I get from home-repair operations who are pretty obviously unhappy to learn that I'm a tenant in a fairly large apartment complex.  ;D

Oh i just got an email from Amanda Kirk which said I won $500, 000 and brand new Mercedes and contact a phone number to confirm my winnings. The email looked official and if i didn't know any better, I would have been jumping for joy by now. But no coz the phone number listed on there, i found out, has been reported to be a scam number at this site http://www.callercenter.com/32485984515.html.

I reported this to the authorities already and I hope everybody remains vigilant and avoid becoming a victim to these scammers.

VIRUS WARNING!!!

From the email archives:

If you receive an email entitled 'Bedtimes'

Delete it IMMEDIATELY.

Do not open it.

Apparently this one is pretty nasty. It will not only erase everything on your hard drive, but it will also delete anything on disks within 20 feet of your computer.

It demagnetizes the stripes on ALL of your credit cards. It reprograms your ATM access code, screws up the tracking on your VCR, and uses subspace field harmonics to scratch any CD's you attempt to play. It will program your phone auto dial to call only 900 numbers.

This virus will mix antifreeze into your fish tank.

IT WILL CAUSE YOUR TOILET TO FLUSH WHILE YOU ARE SHOWERING.

It will drink ALL your beer.

FOR GOD'S SAKE, ARE YOU LISTENING? ?

It will leave dirty underwear on the coffee table when you are expecting company.

It will replace your shampoo with Nair and your Nair with Rogaine. If the 'Bedtimes' message opened in a Windows 95/98 or Windows XP environment, it will leave the toilet seat up and leave your hair dryer plugged in dangerously close to a full bathtub.

It will not only remove the forbidden tags from your mattresses and pillows, it will also refill your skim milk with whole milk.

***WARN AS MANY PEOPLE AS YOU CAN. ***

And if you don't send this to 5000 people in 20 seconds, you'll fart so hard that your right leg will spasm and shoot straight out in front of you, sending sparks that will ignite the person nearest you.

Send this warning to everyone!

THERE'S A LOT OF SADNESS IN THE WORLD!

Right now, as you read this, 17 Million people are partying

And look at you - you're on the computer

2. I was just at the Atlanta airport yesterday.

Should I just post pics? Lol. I've had stuff from the FBI, Goverements, Airports, Lottories (I'm not even old enough to play).

My two most recent ones... Usually I just send them a message consisting of. "You're emailing a Minor, so just give me your stupid Ransomware and lets get this over with."

OR

"HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH__________" Just continue that lol....

I regularly check my spam for these messages. (Go Google!)

A word of advice, Never reply to these types of emails!
A reply of any type sends a message to these spammers that they have hit a live person
which in itself is worth lots of money to them.

I wasn't aware of that.... I'll stop replying... But on the flip side, they now know emailing people like us is pointless and will only land them in trouble. Is this something you could legally report to yout local Police/FBI/CSIS etc? Or are they usually sending their spam through everything known to man making it extremely difficult to trace where it orginally came from?

In most instances, you're correct on the procedure they use.
Reporting could turn into a very time consuming hobby with probably not much satisfaction in accomplishing very much.

They don't care, because they don't read them and just add your email address to more lists that can be sold, regardless of what/how you might respond. They are just happy that the email is live and can be sold.

Is this something you could legally report to yout local Police/FBI/CSIS etc? Or are they usually sending their spam through everything known to man making it extremely difficult to trace where it orginally came from?

Most police really aren't up to the task and even if they were to forward it to cyber crime, it is probably one of very many such emails.

The only response to spam is delete and move on with your life don't waste time on them.

looks like an individual email to each of the potential suckers who will hopefully act on this.

As soon as you quote someone else's post that has smileys, etc. in their post, it converts it to display in WYSIWYG in the editor because you have that option enabled.

Not a problem if you haven't got that option set (default), you don't get the code.

Not if you had a half decent browser ;D

I use an add-on for firefox bbcodeXtra, it has a shed full of options to input code tags, etc. Might be worth a look to see if there is an extension to do this in chrome.

I wonder if in the reply window, checking the don't show smileys option would resolve this.

I don't see an option to disable smileys. I did activate the quick reply which helps somewhat. Will not know till I attempt to post something more complicated. :)

Generally I only use the Quick Reply (because of the bbcodeXtra add-on), you need to click the preview button then click on the Attachments and other Options is where the disable smileys is, as in my image.

If you use the Regular Reply button, then click on the Attachments and other Options - that should give the option - I believe once checked the option remains set.

Following the directions in this email will make the Cyber Crook rich and me poor.
If you check the email address details, you would see following:
As you can clearly see, the spoofed from address and the return address have nothing to do with each other
and the return address certainly has nothing to do with Wells Fargo.
Don't be fooled by such an attempt to steal your money and probably your identity.
Your bank would never send out this type of a request for information.

If English isn't your first language, this may make my post a little clearer.
The actual saying is "Never look a gift horse in the mouth." This means if a gift is offered simply accept it and don't ask questions.
My quote of "Always look a gift horse in the mouth." simply means that we can't, for security reasons, simply except these types of gifts
without check into their authenticity.
(Also, note the heading of this topic.)

A new Arrival:
"Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI)
Counter-terrorism Division and Cyber Crime Division
J. Edgar. Hoover Building Washington DC

Dear Beneficiary,

Series of meetings have been held over the past 7 months with the secretary general of the United Nations Organization. This ended 3 days ago. It is obvious that you
have not received your fund which is to the tune of Eight Million and Five Hundred Thousand United State Dollars ($8,500,000.00) due to past corrupt Governmental
Officials who almost held the fund to themselves for their selfish reason and some individuals who have taken advantage of your fund all in an attempt to swindle your
fund which has led to so many losses from your end and unnecessary delay in the receipt of your fund.

The National Central Bureau of Interpol enhanced by the United Nations and Federal Bureau of Investigation have successfully passed a mandate to the current president
of South African his Excellency President Jacob Zuma to boost the exercise of clearing all foreign debts owed to you and other individuals and organizations who have
been found not to have receive their Contract Sum, Lottery/Gambling, Inheritance and the likes. Now how would you like to receive your payment? Because we have two
method of payment which is by Check or by ATM card?

ATM Card: We will be issuing you a custom pin based ATM card which you will use to withdraw up to $3,000 per day from any ATM machine that has the Master Card Logo on
it and the card have to be renewed in 4 years time which is 2018. Also with the ATM card you will be able to transfer your funds to your local bank account. The ATM
card comes with a handbook or manual to enlighten you about how to use it. Even if you do not have a bank account.

Check: To be deposited in your bank for it to be cleared within three working days. Your payment would be sent to you via any of your preferred option and would be
mailed to you via DHL. Because we have signed a contract with DHL which should expire in next three weeks you will only need to pay $250 instead of $450 saving you
$200 So if you pay before the three weeks you save $200 Take note that anyone asking you for some kind of money above the usual fee is definitely a fraudsters and you
will have to stop communication with every other person if you have been in contact with any. Also remember that all you will ever have to spend is $250.00 nothing
more! Nothing less! And we guarantee the receipt of your fund to be successfully delivered to you within the next 48hrs after the receipt of payment has been
confirmed.

Note: Everything has been taken care of by the Federal Government of South African, The United Nation and also the FBI and including taxes, custom paper and clearance
duty so all you will ever need to pay is $250.

DO NOT SEND MONEY TO ANYONE UNTIL YOU READ THIS: The actual fees for shipping your ATM card is $450 but because DHL have temporarily discontinued the C.O.D which gives
you the chance to pay when package is delivered for international shipping We had to sign contract with them for bulk shipping which makes the fees reduce from the
actual fee of $450 to $250 nothing more and no hidden fees of any sort!

To effect the release of your fund valued at 8,500,000.00 you are advised to contact our correspondent in Africa the delivery officer Bar Alex Williams with the
information below,

Name:  Bar Alex Williams
Email: alexw106@yahoo.com.hk

You are advised to contact him with the information's as stated below:

Your full Name..
Your Address:..............
Home/Cell Phone:..............
Preferred Payment Method (ATM / Cashier Check)

Upon receipt of payment the delivery officer will ensure that your package is sent within 48 working hours. Because we are so sure of everything we are giving you a
100% money back guarantee if you do not receive payment/package within the next 48hours after you have made the payment for shipping.
Yours sincerely,

The link you gave is still sort of active, clickable. Whilst it shouldn't go to that site, some browsers may try to correct the link.

I have modified it further so it isn't clickable. Better yet, either don't post the suspect link as it doesn't detract from this being a scam. you could just reference it as being a suspect link.

Or post the email as an image.

I think it would have been much easier on them if they simply asked me to forward any monies I might have in that bank account. :)
We all know, that their intent isn't to give me 10.5 Million but rather to steal what ever money they can access via the information asked for in this
"Award Letter". :)
The sad part is that there are still many who fall for this type of scheme. Wake UP People, it's a scam.

Yes really sad, I can't believe anyone falls for this/these scam/s whoever heard of a Bank using a gmail email address to start with. Nor the Head of the IMF (based in the USA) using an email address supposedly in the Soviet Union (Russia).

Aside from all of the other glaring errors, no one should really fall for this/these scam/s.

It is totally unbelievable how many times we discuss this type of phishing attempt and, how often someone will admit,

There are a lot of gullible folks out there. Many of them are older people. Unfortunately the trusting generation (Senior Citizens) is still the most vulnerable.
They do learn quickly once they've been burned.  :(

WOW, what a Great Deal
(http://screencast-o-matic.com/screenshots/u/Lh/1476538475077-41370.png)
For a $120.00 Recording fee, I will receive 20 Million Dollars. Not bad. :)
Actually, once I send the $120.00, I can frame this email since that's the last time I'll ever hear from this party.
The sad part is that there are people that actually fall for this scheme. :'(

That truly is the saddest part, vulnerable people (and those with little money) are the first to fall.

Attention:

A customer of ours who died nine years ago in Tsunami tragedy in Indonesia leaving behind an estate/capital (US$20M) in a Bank here
where I work, till date nobody has come forward or put application for the claim.

During the Bank private search for the late gentle man relatives your name and email contact was among the findings that matches the same
surname as the deceased who died intestate with no Will or next of kin. To maintain the level of security required I have intentionally
left out the final details.

Banking regulation/legislation demand that I notify the fiscal authorities after a statutory time period when dormant accounts of
this type are called in by the monetary regulatory bodies if nobody applies to claim the funds. I urge you to come forward since I can
provide you with the details needed for you to claim the estate/capital so that I can be gratify by you ,in this way
$12,000,000.00 for you and $8,000,000.00 for me. I will do all the crucial part in the Bank to have the claim released to you promptly.

Please endeavor to observe utmost discretion in all matters concerning this issue to affirm your willingness and cooperation please do so by
replying me with your Telephone Number and Your Contact Information.

I do expect your prompt response.

Dear Owner,

I am Robert Williams, Inspection Unit Manager United Nations Inspection Agency in Hartsfield Jackson International Airport Atlanta, Georgia. During our investigation, I discovered An abandoned shipment through a Diplomat from United Kingdom which was transferred from JF Kennedy Airport to our facility here in Atlanta, and when scanned it revealed an undisclosed sum of money in 2 Metal Trunk Boxes weighing approximately 65lbs each.

The consignment was abandoned because the Content was not properly declared by the consignee as money rather it was declared as personal effect/classified document to either avoid diversion by the Shipping Agent or confiscation by the relevant authorities. The diplomat's inability to pay for Non Inspection fees among other things are the reason why the consignment is delayed and abandoned.

By my assessment, each of the boxes contains about $4M or more. They are still left in the airport storage facility till today. The Consignments like I said are two metal trunk boxes weighing about 65lbs each (Internal dimension: W61 x H156 x D73 effective capacity: 680 L) Approximately. The details of the consignment including your name and email on the official document from United Nations' office in London where the shipment was tagged as personal effects/classified document is still available with us. As it stands now, you have to reconfirm your full name, Phone Number, full address so I can cross-check and see if it corresponds with the one on the official documents.

Like I did say again, the shipper abandoned it and ran away most importantly because he gave a false declaration, he could not pay for the yellow tag, he could not secure a valid non inspection document(s), etc. I am ready to assist you in any way I can for you to get back this packages.

Sincerely,
Robert Williams

Yes, and why is it that the person addressing you does not keep the business directed to the person most directly affected?  The diplomat stands to lose the most, right?

Rest assured AOL and Intel will follow through with their promises for fear of facing a multimillion-dollar class action suit similar to the one filed by PepsiCo against General Electric not too long ago.Dear Friends; Please do not take this for a junk letter. Bill Gates sharing his fortune. If you ignore this, You will repent later. Microsoft and AOL are now the largest Internet companies and in an effort to make sure that Internet Explorer remains the most widely used program, Microsoft and AOL are running an e-mail beta test. When you forward this e-mail to friends, Microsoft can and will track it (If you are a Microsoft Windows user)? Our Ref: US/TRS/7184/ATCP

COMMITTEE ON FOREIGN PAYMENT RESOLUTION PANEL ON WITHHELD PAYMENTS

We have taken time to review unsuccessful transactions with most international inheritance/contract insurance companies and other foreign banks especially in Africa, Asia and the United Kingdom. We wish to let you know that we have communicated with most of these foreign banking institutions withholding most international payments to individuals and companies so as to find out why these funds were withheld, the source of the funds and a final solution to these problems.

Conclusively, we discovered that most withheld and unpaid funds originating from lottery organizations, international trading, company's awarded contract funds and deceased persons were not properly filed for international funds payment to its intended beneficiary.

As such, transfer suspension was placed on these funds because majority of these international funds remittance/transfer were not properly recorded by the paying institution for future file reference/assessment by the International Monetary Fund and the Financial Services Authority.

In joint alliance with the Financial Services Authority to resolve this issue, we wish to let you know that we have been approved to assist you in receiving your awarded funds, the total sum of Seven Million, Five Hundred Thousand United States Dollars ($7,500,000.00 USD). We have gone through the security manifest booklet of all international outstanding transactions and our extensive investigation confirmed that you are the beneficiary of this fund through the assistance of the International Criminal Police Organization (ICPO) to investigate and release suspended withheld funds to its beneficiaries account abroad, we were able to gain an Approval Authorization Letter from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) which stated that your funds will be paid to you on proper confirmation of its claim.

We wish to inform you once again that there is an existing arrangement with United Nations Federal Credit Union (UNFCU) in New York to process and pay you the outstanding sum of $7,500,000.00 USD as soon as you provide the complete requirements needed for them to process your fund payment case. This was resolved in a meeting held between the International Financial Auditors in Europe and our American representatives.

Director, UNFCU

Contact him with below details.
- A scanned copy of your ID or driver’s license:

- Your present home address in the case of documents delivery:

Your nominated Bank Account information shall be requested for transfer of your funds after confirmation of your funds claims file by the processing officer.

By the virtue of the provision of the law which confer on us powers to advocate, adjudicate, suspend and authorize an immediate transfer of funds internationally, we hereby state emphatically and without prejudice that should there be any information that may succeed your application for unclaimed awarded funds release that are currently deposited in most foreign banks in Europe, Asia and in Africa, please do not hesitate to provide the information so that we can help you in receiving your funds.

Also note that failure to properly apply for the funds payment will nullify your chances of receiving your unclaimed funds and funds will be diverted into the government treasury.

Share me some moneys after you done it. ;D lol

It won't happen Mr A.  I was told I had been left $4.5M - man! I was well chuffed.  I sent off the $15000 they needed to cover the
legal expenses and all they paid into my bank was $2.5M - those b******s conned me out of nearly $2M.

If it seems too good to be true then it almost certainly is.  :'(

Hello,
I am a Principal Asset Manager in one of the leading international banks. I respectfully seek your sincere consent in this profitable proposal that i will explain to you.
Nine (9) years ago, precisely on Nov 6th, 2008, an Expatriate Oil consultant/contractor with a Chinese mineral cooperation, deposited a numbered sum of Twenty Million United States Dollars(20,000,000 USD) in my branch valid for twelve calender months. We did not hear from him since then.
However On further inquiries we found out He was involved in an accident which means he died intestate, All paper works in my bank revealed that he did not declare any next of kin or relations. This means that no one will ever come for this money since its been nine years. I can be able to make you the beneficiary of these funds.
For all your troubles I propose that we split the money in half. Once I get your willingness and response I will give you further information on this huge deal, What I require is that you DO NOT betray my confidence.
We should act swiftly on this if we are going to achieve it.
I wait your urgent response
Regards,
Andy

He want to give me half of it, why dont he just take it all?

I guess he is just a nice trusthworty guy    ;)

Dear Friend,
"Opportunity is missed by most people because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work". I am an ethnic conflict mediator by training, and as a native interpreter, I also work as a freelance journalist. I regret that I couldn't exploit a more discreet means of reaching you due to time constraint. Please, do not think of my proposal as having 'bogus' traits because of the platform upon which this request is made to you. I was left with no better choice than to stumble on this medium to rech you due to the tight deadline to keep to.

I am writing concerning the $2.10 billion granted by a London court as damages for the menace of Oil Spill in (4) oil rich coastal communities in the Niger-delta region. I am convinced that you've enjoyed cordial banking relationship with your bankers over the years, and can receive large payments in your bank account without the authorities raising eyebrows? If you are interested to know the details of this proposition, please indicate by providing your Name , Country and Phone number in your reply.

Regards,
Charles Vandi.

My Dear Friend.

I know that this letter might come to you as a surprise, especially since we have never met or discuss before, basically the message might sound strange but it is

factual in reality if only you care to listen to me. The truth is that I should have notified you first through a more confidential means, (even if it's at least to

respect your integrity) please accept my humble apologies if I Had caught you unawares, I frankly do not mean any harm in passing my message. For security reason and

also due to what is happening all over the internet now are days, the details of my personality and that of my late husband will be directed to you via my private

email as soon as I receive your response to my request below.

I am woman undergoing medical treatment at moment. I am married to a lovely and gentle man who worked with Chinese embassy in Malaysia for nine years before he died

in  2014. We were married for eleven years without a child. He died after a brief illness that lasted for only four days. Before his death we were both born again

Christians. I decided not to re-marry or get a child outside my matrimonial home. When my late husband was alive he deposited Million/thousand U.S. Dollars) in a

Finance/Bank. Presently, this money is still with the Finance/Bank in EUROPE.

Recently, my Doctor told me that I would not last for the next Five to Eight months due to cancer problem. Though what disturbs me most is my stroke. Having known my

condition I decided to donate this fund to church or better still a Christian/individual that will utilize this money the way I am going to instruct here in. I want

you to use this funds help the widows, orphanage. The Bible made us to understand that blessed is the hand that giveth. I took this decision because I don't have any

child that will inherit this money and my husband relatives are not Christians Nor Muslims, and I don't want my husband's hard earned money to be misused by

unbelievers. I don't want situation where this money will be used in an ungodly manner, hence the reason for taking this bold decision.

Please, for now i don't need any telephone communication in this regard because of my health, and because of the presence of my husband's relatives around me always. I

don't want them to know about this development. As soon as I receive your reply I shall give you the contact of the Finance/Bank in EUROPE.

I shall also send a letter of authority to the Bank that will empower you as the original- beneficiary of this fund. However, if you do not have confidence in this

message, please kindly delete it and accept my sincere apology for contacting you in this manner. And any delay in your reply will give me room in sourcing for a

church or Christian individual for this same purpose. Please assure me that you will act accordingly as I stated herein.

you can contact me below this email:  racheljude1@hotmail.com

Hope to hear from you.
Remain blessed in the name of the Lord.

Like Dave, never see these emails.  Whether deserved or not.
I always have to fish out the ones I post from the Spam folder of Gmail. :)
They never make it to my inbox.

You either hit paydirt today or, had very little else to do. :)
Seems my forum mail has become popular among scammers ...

Since they are all sendt from Gmail, maybe same person?

You guys are really lucky having all these generous people send you emails to give you money.  I'm obviously not that lucky as it is rare for me to receive any.
Should i forward your mail address?    ;D

Operations, Maintenance and Transportation officer.
Miami International Airport 2100 NW 42nd Ave, Miami,
FL 33126, United States
INSPECTION UNIT
Call :(+1) 561-693-6516

Attention beneficiary,

I have a substantial information to give you, but before I give you any detail about this classified information, I must seek your utmost discretion about these vital information that's gonna change our lives forever. Any mistake might cost me my job therefore I need to know if i can trust you enough in order for me to reveal this secret to you.

My name is Ronald MacLeod, i am the Operations, Maintenance and Transportation officer here at the Miami International Airport FL, USA. Last week Tuesday, as i was making my usual routine check at the Airport Storage Vault, I discovered an abandoned shipment from London and when scanned it revealed an undisclosed sum of money in a Metal Trunk Box weighing approximately 110kg With Registration RBT-45C. The consignment was abandoned because the Contents of the consignment was not properly declared by the consignee as "MONEY" rather it was declared as personal effect to avoid interrogation and also the inability of the diplomat to pay for the United States Non Inspection Charges which is $3,700USD. On my assumption the consignment is still left in our Storage House here at the Miami International Airport Miami Florida till date. The details of the consignment including your name, your email address and the official documents from the United Nations office in Geneva are tagged on the Trunk box.

However, to enable me confirm if you are the actual recipient of this consignment as the assistant director of the Inspection Unit, I will advise you provide your current Phone Number and Full Address, to enable me cross check if it corresponds with the address on the official documents including the name of nearest Airport around your city. Please note that this consignment is supposed to have been returned to the United States Treasury Department as unclaimed delivery due to the delays in concluding the clearance processes so as a result of this, I will not be able to receive your details on my official email account. So in order words to enable me cross check your details, I will advise you send the required details to my private email address for quick processing and response. Once I confirm you as the actual recipient of the trunk box, I can get everything concluded within 48hours upon your acceptance and proceed to your address for delivery.

Lastly, be informed that the reason I have taken it upon myself to contact you personally about this abandoned consignment is because I want us to transact this business and share the money 70% for you and 30% for me since the consignment has not yet been returned to the United States Treasury Department after being abandoned by the diplomat so immediately the confirmation is made, I will go ahead and pay for the United States Non Inspection Fee of $3,700 dollars and arrange for the box to be delivered to your doorstep Or I can bring it by myself to avoid any more trouble but you have to assure me of my 30% share.

I wait to hear from you urgently if you are still alive and I will appreciate if we can keep this deal confidential. Please get back to me via my private Emai ( rnldmacleod@gmail.com ) for further directives

Warmest Regards,
Chief Inspection Officer
Agent MacLeod

It's nice to know that this scammer is at least practicing safe hex and uses Avast to keep you safe.
The email itself is safe. (It doesn't contain anything that can infect your system.)
Replying to this scam is dangerous and could result in Identity Theft.
Supplying the requested information will make the Cyber crook a winner and you a looser.

The problem is when you have billions it is hard to give it away as the interest on the remaining balance is likely to cover the donations (plus any tax refund on charitable donations, etc.).

This is a problem I would like to have, I'm sure I could make a dent in it :)

I didn't get an email but a few minutes ago I noticed I had a voice mail.  It was  lady who said she was from the IRS.  She said if we didn't pay our taxes charges would be filed against us. We filed our taxes and have gotten a refund on Federal and State.  Some people might fall for this and answer the questions.  Of course I deleted the voice mail.

Good for you.

IRS will never contact you by any other means than snail mail.  What that means you will never get:
Additionally, you could've reported the number used to call you to the authorities:
https://www.irs.gov/privacy-disclosure/report-phishing (https://www.irs.gov/privacy-disclosure/report-phishing)
https://www.treasury.gov/tigta/contact_report_scam.shtml (https://www.treasury.gov/tigta/contact_report_scam.shtml)

The threat of financial damage is real and is of a very real consequence to every victim that is taken in by this scam, so reporting all instances is a must, imo.

It's the best way to help.

Hi, stranger!

I hacked your device, because I sent you this message from your account.
If you have already changed your password, my malware will be intercepts it every time.

You may not know me, and you are most likely wondering why you are receiving this email, right?
In fact, I posted a malicious program on adults (pornography) of some websites, and you know that you visited these websites to enjoy
(you know what I mean).

While you were watching video clips,
my trojan started working as a RDP (remote desktop) with a keylogger that gave me access to your screen as well as a webcam.

Immediately after this, my program gathered all your contacts from messenger, social networks, and also by e-mail.

What I've done?
I made a double screen video.
The first part shows the video you watched (you have good taste, yes ... but strange for me and other normal people),
and the second part shows the recording of your webcam.

What should you do?

Well, I think $550 (USD dollars) is a fair price for our little secret.
You will make a bitcoin payment (if you don't know, look for "how to buy bitcoins" on Google).

BTC Address: 19aT6f2hkZ8AGDYhFAdYtVYRj7kFhLBuVV
(This is CASE sensitive, please copy and paste it)

Remarks:
You have 2 days (48 hours) to pay. (I have a special code, and at the moment I know that you have read this email).

If I don't get bitcoins, I will send your video to all your contacts, including family members, colleagues, etc.
However, if I am paid, I will immediately destroy the video, and my trojan will be destruct someself.

If you want to get proof, answer "Yes!" and resend this letter to youself.
And I will definitely send your video to your any 19 contacts.

This is a non-negotiable offer, so please do not waste my personal and other people's time by replying to this email.

Bye!

Hi!

I know that: oktober - is your password!

Also as you may have noticed, I sent this email from your email account (if you didn't see, check the from Sender email ID.)

I infected you with my private malware, RAT, (Remote Administration Tool) some time ago.

The malware gave me full access and control over your computer, meaning, I got access to all your accounts and I can see everything on your screen, even turn on your camera or microphone and you won't even notice about it.

I made a video showing both you (through your webcam) and the video you were watching (on the screen) while statisfying yourself!

I can send this video to all your contacts (email, social network)!

I can publish absolutly everything I found on your computer!

You can prevent me from doing this!

To stop me, transfer exactly 900$ with the current bitcoin (BTC) price to my bitcoin address.
If you don't know how to get bitcoin, Google - "How to buy Bitcoin".
The wallet you can create here: www.login.blockchain.com/en/#/signup/

My bitcoin adress is: 1Q9QmbRyHu89jWKwVXgkvTMNDuEags5kdq

After receiving the payment, I will delete the video, and we will forget everything.
I give you 4 days to get the bitcoins.
Since I already have access to your computer, I know when you read this email.
Don't share this email with anyone, this should stay our little secret!

I love these guys (NOT), so very reasonable only charging you reasonable amount.

Even if this were true and or other form of ransomware how is it possible to trust anyone prepared to blackmail you to do what they say after payment.  The simple answer is that you can't.

So, never pay but ensure that you have a robust backup and recovery strategy, in the unlikely even of a scam (or actual ransomware) being true.  You should be able to recover the system using your backups.

I get texts like this! Except they say it is HMRC and that I have a tax refund due and it has a link in it. I have never clicked the link as probably a cloned version of HMRCs website or a virus of some sorts.  Whenever I have had a tax refund, I have always had to call HMRC myself and request it and they pay it with my next salary payment from my work! (Probably should check if I have any at the moment actually haha) But ye, for sure, people will fall for these! Was reading on https://scam-numbers.co.uk/ (https://scam-numbers.co.uk/) the other day about people being scammed by the HMRC stuff, handing over their bank details over the phone to pay unpaid taxes. Does kinda make you facepalm but there are vulnerable people out there!

A pretty poor effort, for every genuine PayPal payment you make PayPal emails you confirming your payment and what for.  Not some paypalhelpxxxx gmail account.

I have never considered anyone being daft enough or had enough spare cash floating around to buy *hitcoin (insert obvious character in place of *) or any other crypto currency.  Well one comes to mind who should really known better Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla, looks like he has taken bit of a bath in the latest drops.

Hopefully the human scam detector is much better, who ever hears of a gas company giving anything away and more so how did they get your email.  Last time I filled up (today 38 litres £71.78), that $500 could have come in handy).

I hear you. The last time I filled up my Pick-up, it was well over $100.00.
I live in the country so we don't have public transportation that we can depend on.
Avast is probably happy that I'm still doing remote presentations.
On our trip to Texas we spent several hundred dollars on gas and the motel wasn't
cheap either.
