Please don't answer if you don't have the 4.5 beta installed.
This poll is conducted to get a better idea of how many users are using the beta and which OS's can be assumed as covered.
Thanks for your participation.

Hey VLK,
It's radicalb21. I'm running Windows XP PRO Service Pack 2 with all updates applied. I haven't had any problems.
-
Hi Vlk:
Same as radicalb21 except, I'm beginning to find some problems. They are listed on the Problem with 4.5 thread. I still think this is a vast improvement over the old version and will be even greater when the buggs are gone. ;D

XP SP2 ... I seemed to have a problem with the mail scanner at first (using Thunderbird, and it was still manually set... upon starting it, it refused connections to 127.0.0.1). Simply setting the server settings for both accounts back to normal, turning off and restarting the subsystem fixed the problem (I receive over 100 viruses a day, so it immediately passed the test as it snagged one). So far, so good.
-
email detection has changed from 4.1 to 4.5. Now it works automatically. Please, set up your email account just as avast does not exists. It will detect the pop3/smpt/imap ports and scan your messages.
-
Yes, it was through reading here while installing that led to my turning everything back to as it was. However, if a user has been using Thunderbird, and changes back, Avast needs to get restarted on the mail client to recognize that it has been done. Turning off/on the mail scanner does it in a second, as mentioned. Running very well, just as before. Getting close to purchase, especially now that Soulseek is covered in there, and that is what my mail scanning is for (hence the heavy viruses). When this goes final, I think I'll be ready to finally upgrade to Professional. :)

Why will you wait for it? ;D
You can start now 8)
You won't regret of the Professional version ;)

Gee Technical there are only 61 votes out of almost 8000 members. :'(
I think a few are among the missing. ;D
-
I found a few users hiding behind the blue ball, the count is now 88 ;D ;D ;D
-
Vlk, won't it be interesting add a more complete registration form for avast Home?
I mean, a topic for the operational system used could be there as a lot of other useful statistics 8)

Win2K Pro SP4+ pre SP 5 patches.

How can I remove a vote, for instance?

Bob,
If you read my post again, you will see I mention SP4+pre SP5 patches installed as MS likes to call all the updates released after SP4.
-

Bob counted 61 votes, when I look there where 88 votes. Now there are only 60. Don't know why or how, but votes have disappeared.
I can imagin that if someone leaves this board, the vote will be lost. But 28 votes?
-
Sorry Arup. I didn't notice your system is a Win2K Pro. On win XP we're only up to SP2.

Can anybody from Alwil answer this? Maybe Pavel.

And what Bob thought is, we use SP2 (Windows XP users)... and he was just saying if it continues with this tempo, we will soon have SP5, just like Win2000...
Spot those smilies in Bob's post... those are pointing that joke was involved... ;)
-
Sorry Bob,
Didnt see through your jokes, must say that Win2K is now legitimately a stable product from MS with SP4 which is quite a lot.
S.Z.C.
Which Ahtlons are powering your PC, I have two, one dual K7 and one dual K-8.

AMD Athlon XP 3200+ Barton...

AFAIK there have never been 80+ votes here.
~65 sounds like a valid value to me...
-
There really where 80+ votes when I looked. And no, I wasn't or am drunk ???
-
So far i tested 4.5 at W2k Pro Eng & Cze, WinXP Pro Eng & Cze, WinXP Home Eng & Cze, W3k Eng
and everything seems running great ...
one exception is my own machine where i get that strange +25sec delay before explorer.exe starts ...
still failing to find reason ....
-
What about KPF + LAN mapped disks ?
-
I receive over 100 viruses a day...
You're not doing safe browsing... ;D

avast 4 Pro used for Windows XP SP 2 on my Dell Inspiron 5150 laptop.

Have two machines both running Windows XP SP2. One machine is having the timeout problems, but I turned off the Internet Mail client(Do not really use it, now that yahoo has virus check on emails).
-
Sorry to interrupt your thread, but I've registered and I can't see any way how to create a new thread using this forum.
There's no button or anything which allows me to create a new message/thread. Am I missing something?
-
Of course you are missing... see attachment. You have to enter one of those forums on the main page and then you'll see that buton.
Cheers !
-
Sasha, you can't add a new thread on 4.5 beta forum anymore. The board is closed.
The buttom is only available on other boards and the user was asking about this one (I suppose).
-
Yes, you're right Technical, I forgot to tell him that. However, I thought he already noticed Vlk's announcement in here:

I'm running Windows XP Home Service Pack 2 with all updates applied. I loaded the beta because the previous official version would not let me send attachments using MS Outlook Express.
:( Still cannot send attachments

:( Still cannot send attachments
Did you try the build 4.5.531?
More informations here: http://forum.avast.com/index.php?board=2;action=display;threadid=9007
Are you sure your firewall is not blocking the attached files to be sent?
-
why my avast 4.5.536 takes so much time to scan my computrer ? i noticed that it repeats scaning for my c\windows\microsoft office\office\1025.....
that is waste of time . any method to improve this long time for scanning
-
Well, it's not a waste of time. While it scans it checks your computer of viruses.
Folder that you mentioned (microsoft office\office\) has so many subfolders, so you can not possibly see what subfolder is being scanned at that particular moment. I'm asuring you that avast! doesn't scan any folder twice.
If some antivirus scans all your hard drives or partitions in short period of time, let's say about 10 seconds, like we all would like to see (which is by the way impossible), that means that antivirus doesn't check properly.
Relax, and believe me, this is normal avast! behaviour...

I really suggest you send the scanning to background (low priority) and do not worry too much like Sasha said 8)
