Post by: pumpman on July 27, 2011, 03:09:31 AM
I just purchased avast internet security.  Is this all the protection I need or is there anything else you guys would recommend to go along with it? Thanks for the help

Depends on what and how you use your computer, however for most cases Avast IS is a complete protection for your computer.

If you by any chance need some second opinion malware scanner, use Malwarebytes Anti Malware (Free version).

Yes, for the average user, who keeps their software up-to-date, it is a great total package.

I agree with having Malwarebytes free. It's not real time protection, but a good scanner.

For the most part... yes. You may want to check these out. If you use the freeware make sure you "update" before each scan.  As you already know avast auto-updates.

I'd stay away from SpyBot S&D and Ad-Aware as they could cause a conflict with avast. CCleaner is a great utility.

Agree with the previous...I use MBAM Pro (real time) with AIS and absolutely no problem or slow down.
