Is anyone having the problem of avast blocking Hackshield??
I tried to disable the shields but that did not help...
Any solutions?? :/

Hackshield's authors wrote us they already fixed the problem - when you're going to run your online game, it usually updates itself, so their patch should be applied on your game, I think.
I tried e.g. Vindictus game (XP SP3) and after updating it was working correctly.
What's your OS and the name of the game? Thanks.

If they can't reproduce the problem themselves, it can be pretty hard (as in, impossible) to narrow down the cause.
Are you actually running the latest versions of both Avast! and the game?

And i run a little test and when i removed avast! game runs fine...

i play "combat arms".....
or should i say "i used to"....
now i can't!! ::)
troubleshooting with game's support team (by giving them the error message of hackshield/game error report)
concluded that the Hackshield/game can not communicate with my pc (connection problem)
i can do anything else through internet as always but i can not play/run that game
i turned off my "windows defender" -> nothing
i set exceptions to windows xp sp3 (original) firewall -> nothing
and the entire "nexon" folder (game installation folder) to avast free exceptions ->nothing
turned off sandbox -> nothing
turned of all shields/protection -> nothing
all above together and separate and in various combinations -> nothing
i even troubleshooted my adsl with my isp -> adsl ok
uninstalled avast -> i was able to play/run the game...
i exited the game with alt+tab and reinstalled avast, re-entered game and i was able to play and chat in-game normally....
exited/shutdown the game and re-launched it -> ok !!
i hoped that fixed it but
after the next pc shutdown and start up....
i -once more- can't run/play the game.....
ask any other info.if any needed - i will do my best to provide it to you....
i hope this thing get solved because i am just about to uninstall avast for good....
:-\ and i am not threatening anybody , i am just stating my mind....
( :-[i am just a free user ,so they don't have anything to lose if i stop using it....threatening in this case is useless :-[)

2007 (!?!?!?) and i was satisfied with the simplicity and effectiveness of the program....

I'm having the exact same problem! After I found out it was Avast blocking Hackshield I was finally able to play Rumble Fighter and Dragon Nest again. I really like avast but I'm probably going to uninstall and leave it for good until the problem is fixed.

Okay i want to play Dragon nest but my Avast Pro blocks the hacksheild. I dont want to change the antivirus since i paid for it. I have Windows 7 home Preimium 64. Avast Pro. please fix this problem as soon as possible.

Hi, I am having same problems
I'm using avast free version 6.0.100 to 6.0.1203.
Games that doesn't run [only happens using WinXP SP3] :
- Freestyle : http://fs.gemscool.com/
- PointBlank : http://pb.gemscool.com/
My OS [i have triple boot windows on my home PC] :
Win XP SP2 : run those games fine
Win XP SP3 : cannot run those games
Win 7 : run those games fine
I even already tried minimum custom install, which only using FileShield ; AutoSandbox off, CodeEmulation off, HeuristicSensitivity off and GamingMode on.
Initially the game run from its "game launcher.exe", then patching updates, after that, it will run "HSUpdate.exe" after this should run "the game.exe",.
But in Win XP SP3 the process stop after loading "HSUpdate.exe"
Even if i disabled the AV, those games wont run.
Those games will only run after i uninstall avast.
I check these ongoing proceses using sysinternal ProcessExplorer.

i just installed it...
(uninstalled AVG first and restarted my desktop pc)
i got a error in the beginning of the procedure about "something going wrong and the program will stop and an error report has been created" - or something like that - but the installation continued normally after that...!?!?!?
i haven't tried to see if there is a conflict with hackshield yet (i will, right after this post)
but i am wondering....
will it work ok after that error ???
and what did go wrong ???

Look for the correct uninstaller of your previous security tool:
http://thewebatom.net/uninstallers/security-software/ (http://thewebatom.net/uninstallers/security-software/)
Then run it underWindows Safe Mode, so it can remove any remnants.
Reboot and reinstall Avast again, and reboot once more. Alternatively, you could repeat what you just did with your previous AV, but with Avast removal tool, also from Windows Safe Mode.
The point is, clean your system from security tools (past and/or present).

The d@#n :-X thing wont let me get to Smode....
it reboots every time !!!
it all started (before this all procedure) when i installed new drivers for my GrCard...!!!
(i had a problem with some drivers/programs missing - PhysX from NVidia as i was warned by a game)
and after that, whenever i tried to maximize a youtube video i got a blue-screen...
i got the thing uninstalled and installed again and it got me blue screen on booting....
after the second time it showed me the boot selection screen for safemode or not an i tried it...
it rebooted every time...
so i choose "last good known settings"
and that is the part (today) that i started the "uninstalling avg-and installing avast!"...
i thought i could (since i selected "last good.....") enter safe mode and follow your advise but
"someone" :-X is playing with my nerves :-[

i tried "tuneup utilities" registry cleaning....
it did get some of AVG stuff out
but i got the same error message...
i stopped the installation and got the log:

Did you use the removal tools for AVG and Avast as instructed?
I have to say that it seems that the problem is "deeper".
Clean your web browser's cache, together with "bad moods" :).
Download (yes, yet again, anew)
1_ AVG removal tool.
2_ Avast removal tool.
3_ latest Avast version.
4_ latest drivers version (for exact hardware model and for exact OS, SP and x32 / x64 combination).
Then please remove your display drivers (Add/Remove programs, reboot, Device Manager, reboot). The goal is to use Windows default display drivers. Yes, basic resolutions and capabilities, but standard and working. If you find older versions of your specific display drivers, don't use them. Much better yet, uninstall them too (it takes time and is longer to explain in the forum, so I skip this). Just be sure you use the default standard Windows display drivers only and nothing more (not add-ons nor special tools from your display card manufacturer or any other party, specially if they start with Windows boot).
It is also important to remove any remnants from your display drivers. So when uninstalling from Device Manager, any file that Windows says it is not necessary anymore, please accept the deletion of it. Then reboot.
Don't panic if the desktop shows strange. Leave it alone. All should be OK when you finally install the latest drivers.
Using the standard default Windows display drivers, boot into Windows Safe Mode. Run the AVG removal tool. Reboot again into Safe Mode. Run Avast removal tool for 6.x (select the correct folder). Reboot again into Safe Mode. Run Avast removal tool for 5.x (select the correct folder, if there is a different old "Alwil" folder).
Now reboot into normal mode. With admin permissions (elevated), run Avast installation. Once it finishes, reboot. If it works (meaning, no BSOD, nothing else), reboot once more (please, do NOT skip this).
No BSODs? Install your re-downloaded display drivers. After that, reboot TWICE (please don't skip this).
For each reboot, I mean to get to the Windows user's desktop (not only the "Windows welcome screen").
No BSODs? Only now we can finally start looking into potential "Hackshield and Avast" conflicts, or any other "only Avast related" problem.

When you use another antivirus, remember to use its uninstall tool to remove the leftovers.
These leftovers can create trouble when installing avast...
That's the only advice I can tell you :)
