Title: Configuring AIS firewall settings
Post by: rgordon on July 28, 2011, 01:52:25 AM
I'm running the trial version of AIS (6.0.1203).  I'm a bit confused about the firewall settings HOME (low risk) and WORK (medium risk).  The help file says that HOME is appropriate for a private home network (I'm on one connected to the Internet via a hardware router) and WORK is for wider connections "including direct connection to the Internet".  Am I to take this literally and choose HOME since I'm technically not directly connected to the Internet (by virtue of the router)?

Thanks.

Rob

If your computer connected to the internet either direct connection or behind the router it's better to set your firewall settings at WORK (medium risk).

I'm behind a NAT router firewall on my home network and I am running the AIS firewall set at Home & Ask. My NAT FW does most of the heavy lifting, so I am not at all worried about it.
