I find it disgusting that a moderator can talk to a customer the way that techie has on a number of times, don't believe me read some of his posts, and then VLK warns that customer, without mentioning anything to his moderator. VLK you need to learn better business skills than that, ever heard that the customer is always right, I hope that person dumped your anti virus after being talked to by you and your moderator like that, because I know that is part of what made me decide to make sure no one I know uses this product again
Further more I find it outrages that a homophobic person, can lie and mislead in a thread, when called on it has to go back and delete those posts because he is unable to prove anything, then is made moderator.
the actions on this forum by the moderators have left me in complete disgust of this company, this is my last post, I intend to delete my account, remove this anti virus, and make sure everyone I know change anti virus, do not renew their subscription, and pass on to their friends the bad way moderators treat customers, and pass on to their friends the promotion of a homophobic member at this thread.

No the customers are not always right. I know this for sure,because i was reseller for queit long time. I laso don't know what offended you so much by Vlk. He's a very nice guy and he's helping alot (actually most of it) around here.
Oh and if you're planning to bash avast! just because of this incident ( i mean doing it global is just plain stupid) i recommend that you start using Norton and enjoy their non existing tech support. You at least won't be offended by anyone (its hard to be offended by something that doesn't exist ;D ). Also don't forget to recommend it to your friends.
Ok,now turning off sarcastic mode.
Please try to deal with situation on adult level.

First, Techie is not a moderator on this forum. Just in the off-topic section, which appearently (given it's name) is not the most important place here. BUT despite he's not a mod I can 100% say that he's always been helpful and polite. If you're refering to the ashServ/spyware thread, I've read it multiple times but don't see anything wrong with his post at all. In fact, he's been probably too polite in this case.
And no, the customer is not always right. Fortunately we still have our standard and are not entirely driven by business goals. If someone comes here and starts talking dirty, accusing everyone around, then no, HE'S NOT WELCOME even thought he wanted to buy a thousand of copies.
We believe in decency, not in profit under any circumstances.
You have made your decision - it's your right. But keep in mind - this is an AV, technical suport forum - not a political chat room. I'm shocked that you're so disgusted with this forum - you must be a very receptive man.

One point that was correctly raised a few times, which RJ apparently chose to totally ignore, was that in the very first reply to him, not only was he quite correctly criticized for improper language and attitude, but he was also given a proper technical (no play on words intended) explanation and answer to the question of spyware.
As far as I'm concerned, good riddance to trolls and their kin. Even "no-holds-barred" sex-chat and similar sites have rules of behavior which must be adhered to.

In his defense I say this:
Bob is now a Moderator because he has proven his dedication to helping others, and in his ability to be open minded ( most of the time. ;)) He has never intentionally modified, altered or changed a post without just cause.
We have shown that our values mean more than any financial gain. We yield neither to insults, inuendos, nor character attacks. We defend what is right. We are the Avast family.
It saddens me that RJ could not see this. It is truly his loss. Let him go as he came.

Geeze... I'm not quite clear on why RJ is this mad....surely it can't be because of that thread with the person who was saying avast was spyware. Vlk has always been very nice to me and others on this forum. While I did find it immature for someone to say they wouldn't help that person because of their silly remarks.... I did NOT find techie's comments to be out of line.
I'm not sure about the homophobic remark. My best friend is Gay and I would find any remark to be in very poor taste that would put down his way of life. It isn't a choice for him...

1] Dumping a good application just beacause you don't agree with 1 or two people on a forum, does only show one thing imo. Lack of intelligence and common sense.
2] "making sure others won't use it", can only be done if you are a dictator or something like that. People are free to choose what they use or not!
3] "customer is always right" NO WAY! If it was up to the customers I would have to repair their systems/solve their problems without them paying me all the times. Luckely for me, my customers are decent people and apreciate what I do for them.

Well said Eddy... and btw, I have wonderful customers too. They are not always happy because something has to be done quickly, and I'm the only one technician in Ontario, employed by company which has headquarters in Montreal (another province). I can not be sometimes in two different places in the same time. Ontario is a huge province. But, my customers are very patient and certainly they don't think they are always right... they know that they depend on me. I'm giving them greatest service and they are greatful for that.
If you are good to others, I'm sure much higher percentage of other people will be good to you. Acting like RJ, I don't know... I've noticed he made so many enemies in these forums... political stuff, technical stuff, social stuff, whatever...

I don't think that the Homophobic remark was direct at you but he (RJ) seemed to be throwing it at me. I'm not sure if those remarks where made out of anger or if he was envious of the honor bestowed upon me.
If it makes him happy, I'll admit that I'm gay, happy, jovial, glad, joyous, elated, delighted, pleased, cheerful and, exultant about being made a moderator. RJ should also know that as a human being, my sexuality would be clasified as Heterosexual.
The only changes I've ever made in a post have been to correct spelling errors or, where there have been prior discussions about deleting certain of my own posts.
Since becoming a moderator in the Off-Topic Forum, I've never deleted anything.

I am amazed but grateful that this annoying insect no longer wastes space at this forum. His depature saves me the trouble of asking for an ignore button . Morons like that are no use to anyone. From what i have noticed , he has been taking swings at any and all who were fools enough to try helping him. I expect the number of users/forum members will now increase as a result. ;D ;D ;D

RJ is, and always will be a miserable person inside. You could tell from his posts how miserable he felt inside. He needed constant conflict from other forum members, or he just wasn't happy. He was so envious of Bob when Bob became a moderator. His envy ooooozed from every word he posted. I too am glad to see RJ gone.
I think it was just time for RJ to calm down and take a break.
