Hihihi, it's Ok Technical... no problems at all. Anyway, this is just another off-topic. Not so important like other threads, antivirus and security related.
I just wanted everybody to see, how many avatars came out of my drawing tools... so many different avatars... I also have few more, but those people already left the forum, so no point in showing those... I'm not even sure are they still on my HD.

If you meant, BORED, no I'm not bored at all. I have my regular job which takes 98 % of my spare time, second most important thing is my family, then the rest of my spare time, I make these little avatars and skins for avast!, and also I'm giving my best to help new avast! users in these forums. I am not bored, it's just I like my friends and if I can make them happy somehow, I'll do that right away...
Making avatars doesn't take serious amount of time. Any of those avatars in this galery, even those most complex animated ones, I can do in about 10-15 minutes... It's natural, that I have such a huge collection, I'm here very very long period of time...

Bob, I hope you don't mind, I made a little change on your page... I just moved universal avatar little bit lover and placed it in line with avast! banner. This way it doesn't break the form...

You're not a dummy. I was making same mistakes when I just started to play in html. Actually, it's not mistake, but rather, you are paying attention to other things while you are constructing your html page, and not paying to much attention on form of the paragraphs, pictures, and animations...
You'll get used to it, just wait... one day, you'll start noticing more and more things, and you'll say: "...oh, why did I do this like that, and not like this ? This is much better and easier way..."

It's always like that, and we have to live with that I guess... as long as there are people like you and many other friends in these forums, that appreciates and like what I do, I am happy and I have great reason to go on and make even better things... at least to try to make better things. I am not sure am I succeeding in that or not, but sure I am trying...

And I am so greatful because your mother was my great friend, sure it was greatest pleasure knowing her. Such a spirit, such a persona... wonderful lady in every way. Even when she was fighting with her illness, her chin was up... I've learned a lot from her, I'm always going to be thankful for that.
Avatars are just small pictures, but if they can make people happy, I'm glad I can help at least somehow...

Hehe, thanks Bob... actually, none of those two falls into avatar cathegory, but while we are here, what the heck... first one is icon in 3 sizes (48x48, 32x32 and 16x16 pixels), and the other one is something like clickable banner for your web site... I'm glad you like them Bob :)

All these avatars are made for forum members... most of them already have a name and they are made specifically for some of those forum members whose name they "wear". You can always chose one of those universal avatars I posted (avast! thematic) or... I could make one for you if you want... custom one... it will just take few days since I'm in the middle of one very huge WEB/Flash project.

Hi Sasha how are you, keeping well I hope, ;D I want to make your work stand out on the site I am a Moderator on, their is no rush on this just I like the avatar you done for me, but I was wondering if you could do one with the avast ball spinning, with my name again on the top but turning as well, and on the bottom the same as before but again with Avast Simply The Best Better Than All The Rest turning as well. leave it up to you how you do it, and how long it takes only I am going to show your work off big time. ;D

I'm sorry but lack of free time is killing me right now. So many requests, and most important my primary job, and my two spare jobs (WEB/Flash design, and helping in one printing company) are taking up so much of my time, it's unbelievable.
Anyway, it's not like you don't have an avatar Don... it's a brand new, hehe ;D Maybe next month...

Ondrej, thanky you so much for moving this thread from closed off-topic forum to General Topics forum. Thank you I really appreciate it.
I know this is not quite General Topics stuff, but since there was so much work involved it would be a waste to lose it in closed forum. This way I can post all new avatars for new forum members (or old ones as well) and not poluting other parts of the forum.
This was just my good will to help people even when it comes to these small not-so-important avatars... but sure, many will agree that they helped many members feel kind of accepted by us, older forum members and forum regulars. At least that's what I'm getting on my PMs every single day. I am happy if I can make at least one person per day happy... then my job is done ;)
Well, we can continue to post in here, and whenever there is some new avatar for some forum member, I'll post it in here... so people will not have to search through all forums wasting their precious time...

Here is an avatar for Octaiver Matt at his request... I hope you'll like it... I created an 3D BioHazard object model just for you. Yes, logo is little bit heavy in physical size, but that's the price you have to pay if you wanna have animated avatar of that complexity.

That looks really good. Viewing in firefox it looks even faster than yours (very fast), it looks fine in IE and Maxthon though.

I see you already got yourself an AOL avatar, so I guess you're covered... however, AOL copyrights all it's signs/trademarks as well. The only registered/copyrighted logo/trademark I'm dealing with in this forum is anything that has anything do do with avast! antivirus.

200x150 is kind of too large for this forum rules... we use 100x100 pixels avatars or smaller. There are some rules in forum policy about that...
No I don't use any third party software to have those themes on my Windows XP machine, I simply applied UXTHEME.dll patch and I can use some other mssstyles. The circle in the middle is a program called Orbit and it's just some third party add-on for Windows. I already posted some info as well as download links here in forum, can't recall where though... in Off-topic forum I believe...
Regaring the avatars, I was doing that before while I had some free time on my hands, but unfortunatelly I am so busy now that I simply can not manage everything. I recently started to work for a huge corporation as a flash developer, working on 3 different projects (unbelievable huge) in the same time, trying to help sometimes in this forum, and working on complete redesing of a wonderful mail checking application POP Peeper. Besides all those things, there comes my family, all those little and big things around the house etc...
If I catch some free time I will try to do something, but can't promise anything.

The old download link doesn't work because after some time they remove those files from their server. It was working while that thread was still active.

As for your thumbnail, I have to say I have no clue what needs to be done on it, since I see it is already 200x150 pixels large... I just don't know what do you mean with "thumbnail for the website". It is already resized to desired size, and it can be used as a thumbnail right away... maybe I'm missing something.

Sorry but imageshack is not the one who invented thumbnail term, so they can not be the one who makes rules what's the size of the thumbnail ;)
This is just one of the thumbnail definitions:

So, as it says, thumnails are just smaller pictures that represents original picture which is larger. If someone wants to represent something that's in original state 1024x768 pixels large, one can do it in many ways... so for example, you can do it with 100 pixels (horizontal) thumbnail like this:

Here is your avatar Henry... I am still not sure if that is what you were looking for, but it's 100 pixels (horizontal) which is also some kind of non-writen forum rule when it comes to avatar size. Here it is:

It's a PNG file format with alpha channel (transparent background)... so you can load it into Photoshop or any other tool that deals with PNGs with Alpha channels and "stick" it to any picture you want...

Note: animation is pretty slow in IE6 since IE rendering engine doesn't deal too good with animated GIFs as well as with PNGs. If you want to see it in normal speed, take a look at it from within Firefox.

@Ylap - Hello my friend ! Well, what can I say... they are not that "shiny" as you say. I also see a lot of artifacts around edges. That is obvious when you use more than 2 or 3 color paletes (for example, you have a lot of orange shades, blue shades and green shades and all of them inside the same picture. Gifs can hold only 256 color palete and not a single color shade more. So if you want to get those blue shadings nice and smooth, you'll get them becase Gif will calculate nice and smooth transitions between all blue shades. If you want it to be super smooth, you will have to use at least 128 color shades... that leaves you with rest of 128 color shades to the above mentioned total of 256... if you have two more colors like in this example I'm talking about, green and orange... it means, you will be able to use 64 color shades for each color. You know that 64 gradients will look much uglier than 128 or 256. Or you can give your green color 96 shades and that will leave you with only 32 for he orange palette. I believe that's exactly what happened to your avatar.
If you ask me, do not be concerned about that... it is totally not important since all your avatars look good whether they are 256 colors avatars or just 32 colors pictures.

I set background picture (the blue one) to the 128 colours before I've used it for gif, so, as you said other 128 colours were left for monitor and green ticks ;D Thanks again for your advices ;) Your the best ;D

Well, if any Info. is needed my Fav. program is Maxthon which is a Browser and my fav. CPU is the AMD Athlon Xp based Processor. If you want a turn around you could do something with a AMD Logo and a Avast! Logo but IDK. Can you come up with something for me ???

It does look very good, strange thing though the rotation/animation speed is different between the two images, the one inside Sasha's post rotates at a slower speed (better). The one in RejZoR's member profile info, the animation is much faster you don't actually see it rotate it appears to flicker.

I had some flickering with Polonus avatar sometime ago. Clearing the browser cache usually helps for such problems.

A nice variation on the above generic avatar would be to have the blue ball be a slowly spinning world globe with the "a" in the Atlantic ocean and "avast around the world" in the Pacific ocean.

Yes, there are two ways of doing that... I can add some more frames to the animation, meaning that final file size (animated gif) will slightly grow, but the animation will be super smooth.
The other way is to slow down the speed of this one... meaning, lower the frame rate from 4 frames per second to let's say, 6 or 7 fps. Right now I am in the middle of something, but as soon as I am done, I will try to post both versions and you see which one you like the best.

No problem, I just finished it...
File size of the first one is around 170 Kb, and this one a lot smoother animated is around 300 Kb... larger file size, but better looking animation.

EDIT: Yes, I am so happy with my new machine, I simply can not express myself using words... it's like a renaissance ;D
Now, if I can just get this ugly Vista working the way it should work, I'd be so happy... one big nothing instead of fully functional OS. I am closer and closer to installing UBUNTU 7.10 on my laptop as my primary OS... if only there is a Flash authoring tool for Linux, but unfortunately I will have to wait a little bit more. There are some attempts of creating something similar, but those are far from the real thing... oh well, can't have everything I guess. ;D

Well, it is possible, but the problem is quality... like an old saying in Croatia - "more money you give, more music you receive". In this case, if you want to have an animated gif avatar under 21 Kb, you'll have to live with this... it is 15 Kb, but its quality simply sucks. :-\

Yes, I do design icons... my last freelance assignment I did for a freelance agency here in Toronto, was to design a bit more than 1200 icons for a corporation that deals closely with Microsoft (programming plug-ins for MS Outlook and some other applications), and all that in 8 weeks. It ended up as a 6 months contract with final count of 6000 graphical pieces (icons, diagrams, few Flash presentations etc.) So, yes... I was pretty busy doing that.

Thanks, even though I still don't believe in talents. It's all work and you have to be persistent in everything you do... keep pushing and pushing and even when its obvious you can not do something, try one more time... just for the fun of it... maybe that's exactly the one you needed to achieve something.
Yes, I'm doing these things since I was 16 years old, so that makes it last 20 years, but just last few years I started making money doing this. But I always have some free time to help my friends if I can somehow, even though this can not be called some serious "help", but still... if someone asks me for something, and I have some time, why not. I know that little things can also make people happy and feel better... so why not start with small things ? Many small things can build a huge one at the end.

Here is something for OS X users, Leopard lovers... just like I am ;D
Although many people liked those old OS X icons more than these new that came with Leopard OS, just because they are colorful and everything (I guess majority of people like candy-bars ;D ), I found these new icons simply wonderful. The designer kept the consistency, and I have to say that I have never ever seen such a clean and crisp design in any other OS. No shiny parts, no unnecessary fake folder perspective (remember, out desktop is flat after all), just what it takes to have a wonderful looking icons.
Well, I decided to create something for avast!... avast! program folder icon actually. Of course I used exactly the same style, so it fits the rest of the icons in Leopard IMHO a 100%. The beauty is that Leopard allows us to have 512x512 pixel icons... true not very useful when on desktop, but that size is not meant to be used on a desktop anyway... it's for Leopard's new feature called "Cover Flow".
Here is preview how it looks like when in "Cover Flow" view (click on a thumbnail below to see full size image):

Yes, but this should not affect it at all, since none of these avatars I uploaded to avast! server. They all are hosted on some of those free image hosting services. The only impact it should have on loading is, that page should load fast anyway (if you don't have any trouble with your ISP), but these "heavy" animated gifs shouldn't display immediately... that's the only trouble you should normally have.
In another thread I posted how fast these pages are loading on my end... of course dial-up users will have to wait some longer, but that's the price you have to pay if you can't afford some faster IS, or if it's not available in your area of course.

And it isn't available in my area, so pages with high graphic content are very slow loading, which is different that the current problem with the forum that I'm experiencing.
I have had some horrendous page creation times, normally they are in the tenths of a second or lower but I have had many now in the hundreds of seconds (not hundredths of a second) and that is before we even get to loading the images from wherever they reside.

From your forum 'Profile' button at the top of each page, once open, Forum profile information, I have my own pic, then past the image location and it will be used. Or you can use the 'I will upload my own picture:' and browse to the location on your hdd. dimensions ideally should be 100x100.
