Title: Windows 7 - avast! Internet Security not working
Post by: kleanchap on August 23, 2011, 11:52:01 AM
Hi,

I have purchased avast! Internet Security 5.0 in July of 2010.  I did a system restore from a recent backup and now the Avast icon the system tray is disabled.  When I tried to enable it by clicking the "Fix it" button, nothing is happening.  In the "Services" I tried to restart and that is not helping either.

Is anyone else experiencing this problem? Any help appreciated.

Thank you.

K

try avast repair

For a repair of avast. Windows, Add Remove programs, select 'avast! Anti-Virus,' click the Change/Remove button from the pop-up window, scroll down to Repair, click next and follow.

OBS: and i would update to latest program version....that is free

I had the same problem and tried the repair. After which it has only been partially restored.

The repair function was finished really quick. And after a restart, I get the yellow warning sign, instead of the red one. So it's progress.

Still, not everything is fixed and clicking the restore now button still doesn't do anything. I tried ending all instances of Avast thru task manager but then I get "access denied". The only shield not functioning is the "Web Shield".

How can I fix this?
