Title: An error occured in avast! engine: Invalid argument

hi,

my avast for linux used to work fine.  some update now has given me an error message:

'An error occurred in avast! engine: Invalid argument'

i have followed the instructions in this thread:

here is a screenshot of my modification of this file. (below)

i still get the same error.

could somebody help me fix this?  thanks

my fault.  i should have kept it simple, and fortunately the fix was.

all i did was open up and terminal and become root:

sudo su

i gave my password, of course.  then put in the command given by zilog

sysctl -w kernel.shmmax=128000000

avast GUI popped right up.

Thank You for keeping this post going!

I just downloaded avast free for Linux and ran into the this install problem. This is clearly the best, most recent and simplest solution for the problem.

But I do have a question: How come if this has been going on a while, nobody ha put it where you first download the install package?

I'd of been glad to run these simple commands, if I'd only known....
