Title: Database out of date?
Post by: baba booey on September 08, 2011, 04:36:06 PM
Hello. Avast tells me, under the maintenance tab, something along the lines of that my virus database is not up to date. I am not in front of the CPU at the moment so the wording may be incorrect. Although, the database (signatures) show the latest number correctly, such as 110908-1 it still says it is out of date. I assume this is a glitch even though this has happened quiet a few times over the last week. Any thoughts? Thanks you in advance.

Is your computer time/day/month/year correct ?

When updating the PROGRAM, and when there are problems updating the database right after booting, some glitch in the detection of your current database version might occur.

If the problems are just a one time thing, then rebooting again usually solves the desynchronization issue.

If rebooting again (or even twice) doesn't solve the problem, post back with details about your OS, Avast edition and version, firewall, other security tools (past and/or present)...

@ baba booey
Try a repair of avast:
Win7 - Control Panel, Programs & Features, uninstall a program, select 'avast! Anti-Virus,' click the Change/Remove button and scroll down to Repair, click next and follow.

You may need to reboot after the repair. This has in the past resolved this out of sync issue between reported and actual VPS version.

Thanks for the replies. The date and time is correct. I tried rebooting with no luck. I will try the repair functions when I get home this evening and post the results. Thanks again everyone.
