Title: Double Billing
Post by: airschmair on September 10, 2011, 02:09:51 AM
I registered my AVAST today as my free trial ran out.  Unfortunately, looking at my ATM debit card online I was billed twice.  I have emailed AVAST twice but so far no response whatsoever.  I would at least like something saying that they are looking into it.  Has anyone else had this problem?  I'm on a fixed income and every little penny taken from me hurts.

If you purchased through the avast.com site that will have been handled by digital river (element 5), so you have another point that you can check.

- avast! Pro/AIS license enquiries Digital River (Element5) https://secure.element5.com/esales/impressum.html? (https://secure.element5.com/esales/impressum.html?). You should have received an order/transaction receipt email, it will contain information relating to your purchase that will no doubt be needed.

As a matter of fact I have two email responses both identical.  There was a bug somewhere in this and I would like it resolved.

If you haven't already done so I would contact element5 as I suggested as they are the ones actually processing payment.

Is it possible that you submitted the order twice?
I can see two identical purchases with your e-mail, 3 minutes apart... so there's no wonder it got billed twice - there were also two license files delivered (they shouldn't be completely identical if you compare them byte by byte - the customer number is different, for example).

I'm sure it's possible to cancel&refund one of the orders. I'd say try to contact Digital River, as suggested by David, and explain them the situation. If it won't work, please write to support@avast.com.

Wouldn't hurt to contact your credit card company.

They will probably react faster than the others you contacted.

Good luck.
