Since the search function in W7 is so slow and bad and very often fails to find things on the system even though they do exist, I found a little program that can be used as a portable with no installation that immediately finds anything as you type it in. ??? ... there must be something wrong with your index then, check indexing options, see if indexing runs at all, and if you get slow searches on some areas of your hard disk add them manually to be indexed. Win7 indexing feature is the fastest ever, well at least here it's damned fast. But again don't expect it to work on drives/folders/files that you haven't added manually. Oh, don't index programs and Windows folder, that's useless and that will slow down everything.
edit: just in case you're seeing that it's not running, hit "rebuild".

There is a file called rdpclip.exe that autoruns says it can't find. W7 search also does not find it but the Everything search brings it up immediately on typing it in. For me the W7 search very often does not find things unless I search the specific folder it might be in. Even then it sometimes won't show it even if it is there. When I tell it to search Computer, it goes very slowly, the green bar extends into the box with the red X and just hangs there with the little circle icon still spinning. I want the search back that was in XP. It is much better. This nonsense with having to set indexing is for the birds.
Okay, now this is strange. Ever since I ran the Everything search, now when I type something in the search box at the bottom of the Start menu, it shows results immediately. It never did that before. I always had to click the little search icon after typing something in. It still does not find the rdpclip.exe file though which is located in the winsxs folder in one of the numerous AMD64 locations. It won't find things in Program Files either while the Everything program does. W7 search is almost like having no search at all.

To me its start menu search function which is troublesome. It might take a month to follow the indexing options, it's not immediate.
