Does this mean avast is a step closer to releasing its own android AV solution (not just this anti-theft feature) ?

I was about to ask the exact same thing, plus will this be a separate program or incorperated into the av when its released ?

Both standalone and integrated.
The launch of the Avast Android product is scheduled for Q4 2011.

so Theftware hides in system even after being reformated/reset? interesting, i wonder if malware uses that too ;)
