Title: [Bug] Avast WebRep interferes with Google+
Post by: lavacano201014 on September 26, 2011, 06:26:24 AM
The Problem: Sometimes (not always) when I post on Google+ with Avast WebRep turned on, it appends the string "WebRep (newline) Overall Rating" to the end of it. Screenshot:

The Relevant Specs:
Avast WebRep 6.0.1289
Avast AV 6.0.1289
Firefox 6.0.2
Windows 7 Ultimate N Service Pack 1

The Suspected Reason: I believe that this is being caused because of Google+'s URL: "plus.google.com". However I may be wrong in that respect.

welcome to the forum. you could try to disable the webrep in avast for firefox that should solve your problem.

avast/additional protection/ weprep/uninstall the firefox weprep.

hope this will help you.

I don't want to disable it, I want it fixed. Because it's actually kind of nice to have in search engines.

lavacano201014,

As far as I'm aware the problem with webrep is that it is only updated when there is a program update for avast. So you will have this issue until then. Unfortunately, the only option is to disable it until then.

I have no problem with WebRep in IE on Google+

That is because it is a firefox issue... ::)

Sure, I'll switch to IE. While I'm opening security holes, I'll just uninstall avast and go without an antivirus. Nothing will go wrong.

I'm fine with waiting for updates as long as it gets fixed.

Yes, I experienced it with an earlier version of Firefox but I thought avast! had fixed it.

Plus we are talking about Windows 7 Ultimate not XP!

YoKenny,
All of your posts in this topic are irrelevant. This thread is about an issue specific to Firefox NOT IE, XP or Windows 7. So please stop posting about that.

On the subject of this issue, yes it did happen before. But that was in Gmail, and that was rectified before G+ was introduced so I am guessing that avast didn't know that it happened there as well...
