Using Xp/Sp2 my system is locked down with the Oupost Pro software firewall. Is there any benefit running the Network Shield with this type of setup?
-
The Network Shield was designed as part of SP2 to guard against security problems in older version when your computer operates on a network.
For home use on stand-alones, the Network Shield does not offer you any more or less than a good firewall.

So you are saying their is no point of swicting on the network shield if you are a home user?
I have Sygate personal on my computer, is this good enough?

I'm using just the Win SP2 firewall, by way of background.
The new Network Shield seems to be running fine, but is still showing Scanned Count: 0 after several hours online. Does that sound right?
Thanks and best,
Mike

I'd recommend running the Network Shield even if you have a firewall. Network Shield is much more like an IDS than a firewall.
Mike, actually, the "Scan Count" is always zero (by definition) in the case of Network Shield. This is because it's scanning all network streams (data as it flows) instead of files. I hope that makes sense.

Thanks for the info, Vlk. I was about to ask a similar question.
