Title: not checking e-mail program
Post by: siramazing on October 16, 2011, 09:06:55 PM
Windows XP, using Gmail. The security suite does not seem to be scanning incoming e-mails. Is it set up for Outlook only? How do I get it to scan Gmail?

Avast! can't scan Web Mail.  The Mail Shield is for mail client software like outlook/tbird.

Web mail is already scanned by the provider (in your case gmail) already, using various virus scanners, and Avast! will still scan things you save locally, so you are covered.

if you using like outlook or thunderbird avast using it's mail shield to protect your computer, but if you using web based email like yahoo mail or gmail, avast using it's web shield (maybe network shield too) to protect your computer  ;) CMIIW
