Title: avast! Net Service stopped working and was closed
Post by: Joecool123 on October 19, 2011, 08:22:17 PM
Hello!

I just started getting this error " avast! Net Service stopped working and was closed" after inserting my new license file. I have uninstalled Avast through add / remove programs, run the  uninstaller and done everything I can think of just short of reinstall. I searched the forums but could not find a solution for this. I am running Vista ultimateSP 2. Any Ideas?

Hello Joecool, Welcome to the Avast Forum!

Most of the times when someone is having difficulty with an Antivirus ,that might be because of other things.

               May I know which  version of Avast product are you using  ? Do you have any other Anti-Virus installed in this system (or were you using any other antivirus before Avast ?), if so what was it and how did you remove it (the vendor's uninstaller's tool or another way)?

Have a wonderful day.. Good karma!

@Bangvast, please stop posting unclear, inaccurate and completely useless posts that only confuses other users.

@Joecool123,

As posted before, please be sure to completely remove previous security tools. Some, but not all, removal utilities are listed at http://thewebatom.net/uninstallers/security-software/ (http://thewebatom.net/uninstallers/security-software/).

Avast has its own removal utility at http://www.avast.com/uninstall-utility (http://www.avast.com/uninstall-utility) (preferable to be ran under Windows Safe Mode, just as the other specific removal utilities).

After that, try reinstalling the latest stable version of Avast and then reboot immediately after installation. Then test Avast for a few days and register again.
