no search engine is satisfactory,and even though i haven't tried them all,google still appears to be the best in terms of results.
although duckduckgo's advantage is that it uses https by default.

Looks like Ixquick, in terms of ethos at least. 

I might give it some use, see how it performs. Though I'm betting it wont do too well, compared to the "Big G". 

Alternative searches work well for a lot of generic everyday things, but sometime throw you results that are just ridiculous.  When searching for something obscure, it doesn't take me long to get a reminder of how Google-spoiled I am, and I often run back to sucking off the G-teat to get the job done.

most search related addons also seem to not work with most of these as well.
