Title: Contacting customer service
Post by: stuart646 on November 06, 2011, 05:32:07 PM
Hello!
On 10/15/2011, I had to reinstall my software on my computer and lost several files due to a virus. I renewed my Avast! pro account on 9/15/2011 according to my bank statement and requested that Avast! resend my license. Avast! reply was that they have no record of such an account. I am becoming frustrated with the automated responses and need to contact someone that can fix this problem. How should this matter be handled?

What about the original email you received with the license file?

http://www.avast.com/contact-form.php?loadStyles (http://www.avast.com/contact-form.php?loadStyles)

You should use the original email address that you used to register in first place, or at least mention it.

The sales email address is also a possible contact method, but you should provide as many details as you can (specially the original email address for your original registration) so they can really resend you the license.

You could also add the link to this same topic, just in case.

The contact option of that form includes "sales", which is the main issue according to the title of the topic.

Hmm, I suggest to wait for a reply first. ;)

Well, I actually (re)suggest to the OP to send an email to the *sales* email address of Avast. I still think that's the best method to solve his problem in this case.

In any case, reporting back here is desireable too.

Hi,

If you have any issues with the avast! license file, you can call into the avast! Customer Service 1800 406 4966 toll free number. They will help you out.

Just keep your avast! order number handy.

Have a wonderful day. Good Karma! :)

Business for iYogi must be bad if it needs to advertise on the Avast! Support Forum.  ::) :o

The last thing I would suggest is phoning the toll free number, I would say it is anything but toll free.

I did:
The sales email address is also a possible contact method

@stuart646,
In addition, you have the knowledgebase articles for sales http://support.avast.com/index.php?_m=knowledgebase&_a=view (http://support.avast.com/index.php?_m=knowledgebase&_a=view)

So, enough contacts and methods to solve this issue, IF stuart can identify himself to the sales department.

The iYogi possibility is ONLY valid for those users already having the correct info (like correct registered email address, license and so on). For this case (where the complete valid info is not clear even to the final user), that service is NOT a valid method to solve this problem (not for free and not even paying).

It isn't the cost of the call I was implying could cost you but the $169 iYogi subscription they try to sting you with once you give remote access to your system. Digging into the event log, etc. etc. which essentially has little to do with the users problem.

+2 Calling iyogi is "not" a wise option. I would rather trash my laptop before letting them have a go at it.
The call is free the load of crap isn't.  :)

@ iyogisolutions1 please do not advertise here. This is not the time nor the place.  :)
