Title: avast recommending I Yogi tech support

I have seen I yogi recommended by Avast  and some other companies.  I would like to know if Avast knows how bad service is at I yogi. I dont complain much but recommending I Yogi is not the best idea. I got told by I yogi I got full virus protection with there service. I found out two years later I got a free download from the net downloaded by I Yogi. The techs do not know how to do even a clean install and you are hours on the line. I was promised a refund Sept 19/11 . I was told there could be no chargeback or no wire transfer. So far I have recieved nothing. I am still argueing with them. Why does Avast still recommend I YOgi on the site? Avast gives good protection so far. I am a little nervous of buying full service from Avast  as some people have said I Yogi takes the overload. I will never buy or recommend anything from I Yogi and think Avast should look into who they are recommending.

Adam i would like to ask if you have read the iYogi post that are in this forum, for a tech support company they are seriously lacking in knowledge and dont reflect well in the professionalist outlook that avast should be wanting to attract.
There have been that many complaint's about this company and i dont know how avast can go about and keep on ignoring it  ???

I would have to agree. I keep seeing posts by IYogi and I wouldn't classify a single one as actually helpful. They're either superfluous junk or they completely miss the mark.

what Iyogi is doing is pure ripping off users who are doing the mistake of giving them a call. Avast has no excuse in keeping collaborating with such folks, no matter what nice marketing replies Adam Riley is giving. it is that simple.

This sums it up nicely.  What is particularly galling is that in EACH and EVERY post on this forum that complains about Iyogi, Adam Riley responds with the same fake surprised oh, please tell me what happened because the "process may not have been followed correctly on this ocassion" and "I will gather the call logs and find out what happened here."  He says this EVERY time someone tells him how bad Iyogi "support" is and how they are hard-selling their "services" and scamming Avast customers who call with even the smallest of support requests (in my case, how to properly install Avast).  Its ridiculous, b/c he already KNOWS what is happening as dozens upon dozens of people have TOLD him what IYOGI is doing.  And each time someone complains, they get the routine, we'll look into it trite form responses from Adam about how he's going to make sure it never happens again.  Yet it happens... again and again.  And he allows it to continue. Why he allows it to continue, I can only speculate. Perhaps Avast gets a cut out of each $170 hardsell IYOGI manages to sucker our of some hapless Avast customer?  I'm speculating, of course. But for what other reason would Avast allow IYOGI to continue to scam its own customers?

I'm not going to defend anyone here, so please don't misunderstand my following words.

How many customers are satisfied? We don't know. We only see part of the problems.

We also don't know what exactly happens in each case. They may or may not really solve the issues with iYogi, outside the forum.

I agree that the impression they gave to forum members is not good, but we can only guess (we don't really know), and our guess would be based on very partial information.

Still, the impression (or how we may be perceiving this issue) is not a good one anyway.

I just got off of the phone after cancelling my I Yogi service and subsequently, avast! I have used the free version of avast! for 6 years without issues. I had WONDERFUL help from the forum in removing a Trojan virus this summer.

But... I cannot believe the horrendous technical support from I Yogi. I contacted them prior to purchasing and installing avast! Internet Security. I wanted to check on compatibility. I was told they should run a diagnostic test on my computer and then of course insisted I needed their $169.99 services (x2 for my laptop).

So... $309.98 later, our desktop has me locked out. Then, when I insist they fix it and try to cancel my service, they insist I owe them at least $59.99 for "fixing" my computer - which was a problem they created!! I am not proud of my outburst on the phone  >:(, but at last they have "promised" me my full refund... we'll see!!  ???

Sadly, this experience has caused me to also cancel my service with avast! I NEVER need to have contact with I Yogi again. I couldn't get my avast! license # into my install and my firewall won't open and I WILL NOT ask I YOGI for help. So... I guess it is goodbye to avast!  :'(

Very unfortunate. It amazes me that a product as good as avast! will associate itself with such horrible tech support, customer service, and extremely poor communicators.  ???

I have written an email to Mr. Steckler of avast! outlining my experience. I hope he replies.

Best advice I can give when evaluating third party PC support is if they don't guaranty their work and won't give you a fixed price quote for their work, look elsewhere.

Also when dealing with any Internet service provider make sure you thoughly review all terms and restrictions of the service provider. Many have a minimum fee clause hidden in the fine print that legally obligates you to payment. In other words, you will have a difficult time with you credit card company getting them to agree to chargeback service provider.

I have to agree with avastconspiracy. When you are dealing with a third-party support company, there is usually a amount of money that is returned to the company they are affiliated with. In this case, avast! It would be great if the avast! president would verify if avast! is getting a portion of the support fees charged by IYogi. I would be surprised if they are not.

Edit: I read that you can call IYogi and if you are not satisfied, tell them you are going to file a chargeback. This gets them moving quick because the payment gateway they use is Paypal and if there are enough complaints, Paypal will put a stop on their transactions if they exceed the allowed threshold of chargebacks.

Their promise to those of us that met their representatives in Prague was that any customer that wasn't 100% satisfied with their service would receive a complete refund.
If you aren't satisfied, make them live up to that promise.
