Title: Outlook not working even tho Avast says I have no viruses...
Post by: frontcluck on November 25, 2011, 05:35:01 PM
I experienced difficulty with my Outlook program yesterday.  Avast scan responded "the process cannot access the file because another process has locked a portion of the file (33)".  I downloaded free Norton antivirus which reported it had fixed a couple hundred files.  I then did a total scan this morning just to make sure the original message was gone.  Sure nuff.  But now I can't access my emails from Outlook - what gives?

Hi,

While scanning your PC the corrupted files might be deleted by Avast antivirus application. This could lead such kind of problem, and more ever I don't have much knowledge to resolve your problem. But I suggest you to use good Outlook backup tool to avoid such kind of disastrous situations. Remo Outlook Backup and Migrate is an efficient tool, you can use it to backup Outlook 2007 (http://www.migrateoutlook.com/backup-outlook-2007.html) data and settings. If you wish to use download (http://www.remosoftware.com/remo-outlook-backup-migrate.exe) the demo version of this Outlook backup tool.
