Firefox has spellbound extension option and you can have English UK spelling too.

Well if we are going to make suggestions, mabey a spell checker for our posts  :)

Lee, IE and its clones (Maxthon, Green Browser, Avant...) have a plugin for it (IESpell).

Other suggestions:

1) Non-read posts by the user and the option for choosing which boards you want to 'subscribe'. With one buttom, the user could see all 'non-read' posts in avast forums togheter.

2) Possibility to hide: avatars, pictures, signature, etc. Will help the dial up users.

3) Themes.

4) Send the new post contents in the notify email

5) Possibility to block IM

I know MAC, and it is my understanding Alwil will switch to SMF as soon as the official release comes out. (expected at the end of this month according to the rumours)

I asked this as a "How do I do this?" question ages ago, and at least a couple of others agreed it would be handy if the new software will permit it.

If you're in a forum and hit the "Mark as read", how about getting moved back to the "parent" list at the same time?  "Mark as read" presumably means you're done with that forum for the time being and want to move on to others.

(Edit) Thought of another one, that a lot of boards have -- show date and time of your previous visit to the forums.

Here is my wish:

If it's possible, it would be great to have FRIENDS LIST or BUDDY LIST close to our INBOX.

Right now, having IGNORE LIST in our INBOX preferences is great feature, but we are missing BUDDY LIST...

Sometimes,  inside these forums, it's very hard to search for some people to whom we want to send IM. Having a BUDDY list would make it a lot easier and lot faster IMHO.

Thanks !

Here is a tough one.

I would like to see the board to be cleaned up.

Too many threads are having the same questions and answers, makes it hard for novices to find things.

I read in another thread (see I can't find it) a suggestion of having some threads with known issues, suggestions or help that are probably relevant to many.  There would be no way for anyone but the original poster, moderator, or those "in the know" to post to it.  That way the information doesn't get cluttered with so many different folks problems or questions.  It wouldn't prevent a person from responding to the information, but their post somehow would not be seen.  All moderators could use those outside posts to further give information to the said thread.
I know I often start reading something of interest to me and buy the time it gets on down to 3 or 4 pages, I have no idea what's going on.
But don't do away with individual posts either.
Easier said then done I suppose.
Well, just a suggestion and I know I do my own amount of cluttering.

I agree with Eddy's .....Clean Up the Forum idea.

I started discussion on this one:

http://forum.avast.com/index.php?board=2;action=display;threadid=9256;start=30#msg77624 (http://forum.avast.com/index.php?board=2;action=display;threadid=9256;start=30#msg77624)

That's for sure best idea on how to keep all information regarding new program updates in one thread... many boards have same threads, why not we ? I also posted some screenshots, so be my guests, take a look in there... please, read every single word till the end of the thread...

Many people already supported that idea, so I believe we definitely should have a thread like that one...

Sasha, I knew I read your idea somewhere, but I would never have found it again. lol
Now, I am real good about giving the ideas and directions about How to Clean Up  but sure don't like to do the work. Same thing here at home.......that's why I have a husband.  :)

SMF 1 is final. Can we expect Avast to switch to it soon?

Yes, a beta version is already done as far I know.
For some reason, that I ignore, it's not only yet  8)

Just a small wish

Quote
shortcuts (IE and NS6 only): hit alt+s to submit/post, alt+p to preview, or alt+r to reset

I would like for that to be reworded please, as i always use them shortcuts on the forum with firefox, so its not just IE and Netscape that can use them.

At the risk of being "flamed"  ;)

I'm not one to be a spoilsport but perhaps the technical and virus/trojan queries posts could be kept free of avatars etc.

Firstly, to reduce load on avast!'s servers and also to help users who don't have fast connections and having their browser sending requests to photobucket or other servers to load the reply?

Gets fireproof suit and waits for replies!   ;D

I don't think so... In fact, I saw the 'new forum beta' and it has this feature.
You can show or you can hide the avatars, signatures, etc.

Are you talking about my posts or 'technical' ones?  ;D

There is a mod that shows all posts without a reply. I think that would be a nice future to add.

At the bottom of the main page of the avast!WEBform there is a listing of those who are currently logged in to the forum.  My wish is to see that listing on every page.

WHY?
1. I just like seeing who is around here.
2. Some of the stuff in the the forum is just too scary to read by yourself. I want to
know others are on the page with me.  ;D

If you click on the number of guests/users (eg: 38 Guests, 13 Users), you will get a list with everybody who is currently visiting the board and you can see what everyone is doing.

Thanks, Eddy.  That will be a great help to "Miss Snoop".   ;)

But I guess I will also have to be careful where I am snooping.  ;D

I know it's just a petty thing, but the flag against my name is the American flag and not the Union Jack  :)

Not the flag in this post above her avatar....  The flag she's talking about is where the guests and members are listed.
There shes classified as being here in the US.
Guess sombody moved her without her knowledge. ;D

There is a mod that will show all posts without a reaction. I would like to see that one added to the board. Think it is a very handy mod. With this option it is very easy to see if someone still hasn't had a reply to his/her post.
