Title: "Connection Timeout" Problem
Post by: Clay LaPorte on November 21, 2004, 08:57:20 PM
I am receiving the following error and cannot figure out on how to stop it, except to turn off the Email feature of Avast.

"Avast: Connection Timeout"
Internet connection timeout elapsed. Continue waiting?
[Server "24.92.226.38", Port 110]

Also, a blue icon with 2 mail envelopes appears near the clock that when clicked upon, shows the server number listed above. Then Avast appears in the bar at the bottom of the screen and starts counting from zero up to who knows how far. Mine went past 700. At this point my computer frozeup and needed a manual restart. My email client settings were also changed.

I know I did the right thing by getting rid of my Norton AV, but things like this are starting to make me wonder.

Please help!

Thank you,
Clay

I am also experiencing this problem. But however only when I have my Pocket PC attached via ActiveSync. Is anyone else experiencing this problem :(. However I have just found that the problem with Internet connection timeouts were occurring, because I also had why mail account setup on my Pocket PC. This is when working away from home without my desktop or laptop. So I can still access my emails. I have now disabled this account on Pocket Outlook (If you can call it that). Problem solved. ;D

Hello.

I use Thunderbird and avast 4.6 on XP sp 2 with every accesses alloweded to avast by the firewall (Sygate) and I have this pile of Connection timeout messages ...
The frequence of those messages seams to be the same that the frequence of automatic mail downloads from Thunderbird...

If you have any solution except Outlook or "no spam control"...

Thanks for your help.

Philippe.

philou, please start a new thread (after searching this board).

The problems in this thread are with another version of Avast than you have.
