Title: Avast and XP
Post by: Barbara2008 on December 16, 2011, 03:43:19 PM
I run XP Professional and could never get Avast 5 to work on the computer (which had worked brilliantly with the previous Avast versions).  The computer froze each time I tried and I had to un-install Avast in "safe mode".  I am planning to re-format my harddrive later this month and I am wondering if the issues (I know I wasn't the only one) with XP have been ironed out?  I really did like Avast (and it is working fine on my laptop with Win7) and would love to use it again.  But of course have no wish to attempt it if the situation with XP remains very difficult - I love XP and want to keep XP on my desktop.

In addition to updating XP to the most up-to-date updates before installing the latest stable avast version (currently 6.0.1367), you should have a backup of your avast license file, so to make it easier to add it again later.
